  1. I'm probably at risk of telling you Girls and Boys how to suck eggs? I've got an XKR with the ol "resricted performance" message. After consulting with various honest but non Jag fixing chaps. I was advised that if one coil set goes then replacing all 8 (in my case) was the way forward. Those Bad Boys are coming out around the £80+vat touch, each! I have been told by a fellow called Glen at Jaguar and Aston Martin Specialist Ltd that is not the case and only the faulty one would need replacing. Another little footnote to this is that, the diagnostic machine does not pick up a faulty plug and will show as a faulty coil set. So, applying my sometimes flawed logic, a potential £768.00 plus labour fix could be a simple case of replacing a spark plug!!
  2. Moggy has been to a new vet. :( Glen of Jaguar and Aston Martin Specialist Ltd. Got his big Speak and Spell plugged in and Bingo!! :D Plug or coil set No 3 misbehaving, in Tuesday afternoon and went on to give me more information than wikipedia about just how good the XKR really is and how them being bad can easily be avoided!! After a tour of his facilty I've gotta say, it's very doubtful anyone else will be playing about with Mog!!
  3. Much obliged Al. I did actually cast an eye but nothing obviously loose. I've just been snooping around online and I'm hoping a faulty coil(s) or plug(s) may be the culprit. I'll post something if my fitter susses it out.
  4. Just picked up my 2001 XKR yesterday, drove home (bout 180 miles) Moggy purred all the way and kept me grinning like a loon! :-) Today had to move off my drive for insurance photos and "restricted performance" running lumpy took my grin away :-( Any thoughs would be welcomed? I'm putting it in to a trusted fitter Thurs hoping it's not going to be too much of a wallet emptying experience.
  5. Welcome to the Jaguar forums Jim and his Moggy :)
