  1. Hi, I have a same year, 3.0 premium luxury s model, and not had a recall notice. But I have only owned the car for about 6 weeks so I may have missed it! Anyone know a way to check for model recalls other than asking a main dealer? cheers chris
  2. Yes, definately change the batteries and get the signal output checked, then a key fault can be ruled out.
  3. Hi Richard, My 2012 XF-S 28k gets about 36mpg mixed town/A road driving and a recent 600 mile round trip to Devon saw 44mpg. So pretty much spot on the average!
  4. Hi Russ, First things first, are you sure the battery in the key fob is ok and is the key fob transmitting? An auto electrician can check the fob signal. Once you are sure the key is ok, the fault will be in the car itself. the way the screen goes on and off Sounds like a possible poor plug in connection. Does the car start up and run ok with the key plugged in?
  5. Hi Kieth, Most dash cams power cables are fitted with mini USB plug to either a cigar lighter plug or a USB plug. If its a cigar lighter plug, its possible to cut this off, strip the wires and wire it into a live socket in the fuse box but the dash cams work on very low amperage so beware, too high an amperage will fry it!
  6. Hi Bill, I have a 2012 XF and am also dissapointed in the performance of the halogen headlights after my Golf with Xenons. There are replacement aftermarket D2S 4200k xenon bulbs available for the XF from Eurocarparts, Product code-481770311. They cost £83 per bulb and those are the cheapest! £166 is a lot of money, not sure if I want splash out that much but if you do, please let us know if its worth it! cheers, Chris
  7. Hi Jamie, Like you I was looking for quite some time for the right car to come along. You want the best you can get for your money! I was looking for a 2011+ facelift portfolio s with 20inch wheels and the B+W stereo. 16k is a lot of £s but seems to be the very minimum for a 100k miler. You need a full sevice history and a proven history at the very least and get an hpi check. If you are not mechanically minded, get an RAC check. Worth the £ for peace of mind. But if it feels right, sounds right and drives right, it probably is. Walk away if it doesn't, there's a lot out there if you are not in a hurry. All used cars will have something that needs doing, that's ok, just get the price right. I bought a 28k mile 2012 premium luxury s with full jag s/h cream leather, privately and got a brilliant deal, not the holy grail but the very best I could have got for my £s! Even the basic models are better than anything else out there. Good luck mate, chris
  8. Hi Nick, Hope you got your XFS ok and are loving itI Got mine at about the same time as you so we must be learning together. I generally only drive autos and tend only to use the parking brake on a hill, on the flat just using the Park which locks the drivetrain. Mine is a 2012 facelift model, but I would think yours is the same. When in traffic and D is selected, you can put the Ebrake on and then drive away and the Ebrake comes off automatically. If you turn off the engine with the gear selector in Drive, as the selector sinks into the console it turns itself round to the Park position, very cool! Chris
  9. Hi Andy, that`s tough when you find your dream car and some idiot bends it! Glad its getting sorted out though. I too, was looking on the BCA website waiting for my perfect car to pop up, it certainly seems a good way to get a better car for your money, even after the buyers fee. You do need to be prepared to travel though, the right car can present itself any where from Surrey to Scotland! I think the right spec/colour/year/mileage/trim/price is definately worth chasing, You can`t expect it to fall into your lap. I was very lucky, I managed to buy my XFS privately and got a fantastic deal, right place/time etc. I assume you have the car by now, I bet you are loving it! Chris
  10. Hi Andy, Thanks, Yes the XF is a lovely car and by far the best and most expensive car I have owned. It has taken much saving to get there, and is a reward to myself for (nearly) surviving sixty years of bringing up a family, who can now (again, nearly) fend for themselves. The X type is a great car and really brings back the styling cues of the original XJ but is a lot more affordable to run. That pink XJ did turn some heads, it was a factory colour quite subtle and not so barbie! Felt great driving it, but I'm glad I didn't have to pay for the petrol, mpg in the teens! Makes my XFs average 40 seem very reasonable. Cheers, chris
  11. Cheers Peter, a familiar story for many I think! Chris
  12. Hi fellow Jag lovers, Well after only 50 years of admiring Jaguars, l have finally jumped in and got my own! A beautiful blue 2012 XF-S in dark blue and cream. What a car, had it for a month and I'm still finding new things to love. When I was 20 I worked for a British Leyland dealer in Croydon and had a 1977 pink 4.2 XJ as a runaround and have loved the marque ever since. Cheers. Chris
