  1. Hi Guys, Just wanted to let all the UK s-type owners know about a great way to save some cash if you have a repair come up. I recently joined the AA and took out their breakdown parts cover, it costs me £19 a month and I am covered for 5 repairs a year up to £500 each. The reason I'm posting about it is that I've just had to claim on it and it's surprisingly easy. I had a coolant leak on the way home from work, so I called out the AA patrol and he suggested it maybe the water pump and couldn't fix it so, he said to take it to a garage. I did and I've just had the water pump replaced for the grand total of £35 (which is the excess payment) The mechanic told me this is a £300 job usually so I got out of paying that thank goodness! Might come in handy if you are worried about garage bills. GingerPower.
  2. I've booked it in for a carbon clean on a few recommendations as a last stitch attempt to fix it cheaply. We'll have to wait and see what that can do...
  3. Thanks, Joe. I'm going to have them checked out tomorrow. Are EGR's expensive do you know?
  4. Another point I should say is that when it was doing it I tried disconnecting the battery and resetting the ECU and it seems to have stopped it doing it for now.
  5. Hi, I'm hoping someone will have a solution to this problem. My 2006 2.7 V6 diesel S-type has had an intermittent running issue, what happens is once the engine is up to temperature the exhaust will sound louder and then the engine will have a slight misfire when cruising at around 1500 - 2000 rpm. When I come to a stop it will idle and be really lumpy like it is going to stall. I've had a diagnostic on it when it's been doing it and no codes come up and where it's an intermittent problem I'm thinking it's possibly a problem with the ECU as the climate control is also broken and only blows hot. Also my service required light came on much earlier than it should and the mileage till service kept changing and going up and down, now it just shows the red light and 'service required' I've had a faulty injector changed, EGR valves cleaned and an air flow sensor changed. Apart from the ECU I'm out of ideas, has anyone had a similar problem if so what is it that it needs? Cheers
  6. Hi guys, I think I may have a simple solution for a query I've seen a few times, bluetooth music. I have just bought this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/192110922330 It's a fm radio transmitter but connects to your phone via bluetooth and it work great to stream music. And the best bit is it's only £5
  7. Cheers Joe. I'll send it to my mechanic and hopefully he'll know.
  8. Hi guys, I've just had my s type fixed on an unrelated issue to this topic but a fault code has appeared and I want to know what it is. I've been searching google but all I can find is P fault codes and this is a B. Its B2915 - fuel sender circuit failure 2 any ideas?
  9. Thanks for the detailed answer, Joe. The EGR's, exhaust, etc were the main parts I wanted to clean, so that's a shame it's not all it's cracked up to be.
  10. Hi Guys, I am considering having a carbon clean done on my s-type by these guys, http://www.enginecarbonclean.com It seem like it would be really beneficial but I can't find much impartial advice as to how well they actually work. Has anyone had one done and what result did it give? Cheers.
  11. Hi Guys, I have a 2006 2.7 V6 S-type, that will go into 'reduced performance' mode when I put it into sport mode and really give it the beans. It will go from 1st to 2nd but then go into the reduced mode. I have read loads of posts here and on other forums but none match the symptoms of mine, they all seem to have it happen more often. Before I got the car, it was happening most of the time in any driving mode, but the dealer had the EGR valves cleaned and that fixed the problem. Any ideas on what it could be? Cheers
  12. Just ordered the same as GaryE from Euro parts. I couldn't get your code to work though, but found another one for 30% off VBOX741 We'll have to compare results.
  13. Hi all, I'm a new Jaguar owner so apologies in advance if this is a stupid question. I'm trying to find an up to date disc for the satellite navigation (2016/2017) but I can't find one anywhere that is later than 2012. Does anyone know if this update even exists? As it seems that it doesn't. Also, while I am here does anyone have any advice for a new Jaguar owner? I have a 2006 S-type 2.7 V6 twin turbo. Cheers.
