  1. Might be able to take you up on that - hoping for a trip up that way in the next couple of months - will PM you when I manage to arrange. Thanks for the comments - no diagnostic kit unless some way of reading out codes by holding down buttons etc as in some cars. Might take the lining off and see if the full 4 unit cable is fitted with a loopback in place of voice - prob not given cost cutting at assembly but worth a (hopeful) look and a chance to nose around.
  2. Just bought first Jag - 2008 X-Type SE auto diesel (facelift model ?) - and loving it so far :) Seems not to have voice control but does have cd + changer / bluetooth phone / satnav. Looks like the microphone for the bluetooth is a "lump" just to the driver's side of the overhead console. The voice button on the steering wheel just toggles the radio - comes up on touch screen with "mute". Looking around the forum I'm thinking I need just two parts for my model of car since would use existing bluetooth phone mic which seems to work ok ? ... a) Voice activated control module 2R8F-14B292-BD (fitting instruction doc https://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/search/view-result?id=62522&type=PDF). The brackets are supposed to be in place already since bluetooth module already fitted from something I read somewhere ? b) 4 way connector cable 1X43-14B242-E to join all the bits together - assume only 3 way cable currently fitted ? Would this be enough to get the voice system working ? There seem to be lots of voice modules on fleabay but no cables - anywhere else to get these ? Any hints or tips to save me from blowing up the system ? Thanks Ed
