  1. oh yeah, should have also said that a little trick a dealer showed me is to store in the memory settings one where the passenger seat is all the way forward. That way, so when he's getting in the back, press the setting and then press the one that works for my wife once he's in.
  2. Ah thanks. Fortunately my wife is quite short and with him being only 6 he fits in there a treat.
  3. Hello,I was delighted when I found advertised what appeared to be my ideal spec XKR:The only fly in the ointment was the choice of interior wood. I wish to put it delicately so as not to offend the traditionalists but I was surprised to find such modern exterior choices matched to such a classical interior. Intetestingly, the dealer wasn't surprised that I raised it as an issues and claimed to have contemplated addressing the contrast in the advertisement. Not being at all technically minded I didn't want to attempt to remove the panels myself, especially having read a thread in here about the huge difficulties some have had with the trim round the gear selector and ashtray. As part of the negotiations they are going to get it wrapped for me. I shall receive the options tomorrow but it's going to be the typical aluminium, gloss black, carbon fibre etc. I would value your opinion on what you think would work best. I was thinking either gloss or carbon but with the black roof and black interior would that be too oppressive?please find pics below of its current interior and, finally, what I was thinking of in terms of silver across the dash and black in the centre console. Thanks in advance! This is the sort of thing I was thinking of...
  4. #1 StormtrooperTK-421 , Today 06:32 AM Hello all, I shall leave a detailed introduction aside as I have already posted in the new members section. My soon to be collected (142 hours - not that I'm counting!) 2011 (MY2012) XKR has done 34,000 miles and has the speed and black packs. The advert said 'performance exhaust' which I assumed to mean the performance active exhaust option. Dealer (main dealer in fact) didn't seem to know about it being an option and I initially feared they were confusing the active exhaust they all have with the performance active exhaust option. However, a quick glance at the build list I thought said 'performance active exhaust' (I have requested a copy) and I'd swear it sounded louder than the last one I requested. Soooo Q1) Short of getting it up on a ramp to look at the centre section how can I tell for sure? Q2) Should the outcome of the above affect my decision whether to remove Fuse 19? Also, somewhat randomly,: Q3) Should I have a standard size rear number plate or the XK specific size? Really not sure what looks best... Q4) What else should I be prioritising at this point? I do also have a question regarding interior trim but I need to sort some photos as context before posing. Many thanks in advance!
  5. Hello all,I bought a 2011 XKR convertible yesterday but, until I pick it up next Saturday, I'm sure I'll wake up at some point and realise it was just a delicious dream. The car in question is a 2011 XKR convertible (picture attached if I can work out how to do it).34,000 with speed and black packs. Think it might have the performance active exhaust - I'll deal with this query in the XK section along with some other newby questions.Don't wish to waffle on in my first post but I thought it acceptable to provide some context to my purchase. I'm in my late 30s and I decided 3 years ago to go for the 2 car option and have a comfortable cruiser for the commute and a weekend toy. I bought an L322 Range Rover and TVR Chimaera. The TVR was a long term itch I wanted to scratch and was to be the forerunner of a Tuscan S purchase when funds allowed. Much as I loved the TVR I found myself driving it less and less, especially as with a young son we couldn't go out in it together as a family.I sold the TVR last autumn but with the Range Rover a firm family favourite my wife is taking it on instead of her company BMW 3 Series, allowing me the opportunity to find something new. The criteria was it had to be swift, fun to drive, will fit the 3 of us and have some curb appeal. Having considered all manner of different cars the decision came down to an E63 AMG and an XKR. We loved the Jekyll and Hyde nature of the AMG and it was naturally very comfortable for the three of us. However, the XKR won through because of (in my eyes at least) its classical beauty. Being a convertible means my boy won't be claustrophobic on the back and keeping the Range Rover means we have a family wagon for those cold, wet, miserable winter days.Anyway, I look forward to learning from your collective wisdom and getting to know you a little better
