  1. Welcome to the forum The air con on the X Type is not the best but if it needs a re gas that means there is proberbly a leak get is checked out properly as some garages will just re gas and that is a waste of money. Sorry I cannot help with recommend garage as I am in Warwickshire but do a search I am sure I have seen it somewhere. Dell
  2. Hi all I am about to go to France and I am thinking of getting a Liber-T-Tag but I am not sure if it will get the signal out of the glass, My X Type 03 2.5 has heated front screen but not sure if it has heat reflective glass as the signal will not go through if it has. This is the reply I got from Sanef tolling The mottled / shaded area behind the rear view mirror will be free of elements and any heat reflective coating. The tag should go in that area so the signal to it is not blocked by the elements in the glass or heat reflective coating on the glass. As you have no mottled / shaded area behind the rear view mirror you need to ask your vehicle manufacturer if you have a heat reflective screen fitted or not. If you have no heat reflective screen you can position the Liber-t tag on to clear glass. Thanks in advance Dell
  3. welcome to the club glyn I also have an X Type and love it ,In 3 weeks I am off to south of France in it same as last year. Dell
  4. I had the same problem last year and it turned out to be overheating due to the silly earth spring clip. I had to cut of the connectors. See this link http://www.jaguarownersclub.com/forums/topic/8594-not-your-usual-headlight-thread/. Dell
  5. I just thought I would share my day with you all, I drive a coach (but today it was a minibus) and I went to Jaguar at Castle vale with a group of firemen from Q8 they and me had to put on disposable overalls and went to the paint shop this was very fascinating as I was a painter in my previous life unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures as the flash or a spark would set the very sensitive fire system off and the resulting shut down would cost £25000 per hour. Then we moved on to the dips in all eight full body dips going from cleaning to rust protection to etch primer. We then moved on to the aluminium shop then the building plant and finally we had lunch on Jaguar before going to see the finished product XF. F type inc the RS. The firemen were there to see the specialist fire equipment but like me they were more interested in the cars. All in all a good day at work and the best thing is I was getting paid
  6. If it was a whine i would say wheel bearings but a rumble sounds more diff/transfer box. This could get confusing I am dell also. Dell
  7. Hi all as you can see from picture I have got all the new wheel nuts and a new set of locking wheel nuts(McGall) I have fitted using copper slip but not on thread (on thread i used thread oil) torqued to 103 nu-ton metres after approx 30 miles re-torqued to 103 again although none had come loose now i know that i will not have the worry of the broken wheel nut again. The only difference as you can see is the locking wheel nut sticks out a little bit but i am happy.
  8. Hi all just a quick update on the wheel nut saga the nut that http://www.precisionautoparts.co.uk sent me seems to work a treat although the shaft is longer it will not protrude out the back of the wheel it is 1/2 mm short of the inside wheel flange but just to make sure I removed a wheel and fitted it with just the new nut torqued it up just to see if there was any movement wheel to hub it was OK so I have ordered the other 15 £29 and a set of McGard locking nuts If anybody wants to contact Precision Auto Parts the no is 01292 285935 contact name Kevin.
  9. Just a quick update One supplier is sending me one chromed steel wheel nut to try to see if it will fit the only difference is that the head is 21ml and not 19ml( not a problem if i can get the socket in wheel) the other thing is the shaft is 3ml longer that is why i am just trying one to see if it protrudes out the back of the wheel if it is below it should be OK will update when it arrives.
  10. Hi all I hope someone can help. Yesterday i had a puncture when i tried to remove the wheel nuts the first nut spun the tin head the second one just destroyed the head and the third one sheared off so i thought sod it it will have to wait until tomorrow (today). I had to weld a big bolt onto remains of the sheared off nut this just twisted the bolt in half then I welded a nut onto what was left of the bolt that I welded on earlier this twisted off so then I welded another one on with lots of weld left it to cool hit it with a lump hammer a few times ( not sure if this helped but it helped me) this time using a 4 ft pole it came free but it destroyed the alloy wheel. I am looking for a full set of solid chrome replacement wheel nuts I have been told that certain Toyota nuts are the same but any advice would appreciated . Thanks in advance Dell
  11. Hi all i have just come back from a holiday in France the car was fault free and returned 37 miles per gallon (brilliant) but when i got of the ferry it was dusk so i needed headlights no offside so i thought sod it it can wait until the next day, When i checked the connection had melted to the bulb and i could not part it no matter how i tried i ended up just pulling the bulb apart. I think that part must have been one of the many ford parts as i would have thought if it was Jag it would have been better quality, I ended up cutting plug of and soldering two new spade connectors on the wires and luckily there was a male connector on headlight unit, I think the reason for the meltdown was a poor earth so it over heated . If this thread is help for anyone please make sure you unplug soldering iron once heated as there is a small amount of voltage on the tip of iron, Or disconnect the battery as it may knacker the on board ECU.
