  1. Manchester UK, little town called Denton
  2. Cheers for the suggestions Joe, covered all bases as regards to loose boot items, definitely seems to be coming from the wheel area, me thinks one of the link bars, sway etc.
  3. After my previous post concerning replacement of all rear bushes with Polybush items, I can report the job was completed today, and the annoying knocking emanating from the bottom shock absorber bush has disappeared, only to be replaced by another less audible knock which, on reflection may have been there from the outset shielded from my shell likes by the louder shock absorber bush failure noise. Wondering what this could be?. On a brighter note I can report the ride characteristics have improved immensely and I cannot detect any variation in ride quality, after reading members comments regarding a stiffer ride after poly renewal I was a little worried that the smooth ride would be something akin to a dodgem car, however my worries were unfounded as no loss of comfort so far are has been evident. I await your suggestions as to what the new irritating noise to the rear could be. Regards all.
  4. 3Hope these pictures are helpful, thought about doing the job myself but after checking with my mechanic decided against that idea and got a very reasonable quote of £ 350. This guy knows my car inside out so I trust him. He says I'll struggle, so it's booked in for the 7th June.

  6. Any of you guys had cause to renew all the bushes on the rear suspension, just took delivery of complete poly-bush set for the rear of the S type. Looking for advice as to whether this is a job that can be completed by myself, if so what specialist tools are required. On another point the bushes Adamesh have supplied don't seem to bear any resemblance to the ones depicted in the various videos I have viewed, for instance there are no metal sleeves around the new bushes, is this correct?. any and all advice gratefully received.
  7. Some of you may be aware that I have been having my S type resprayed, well, got her back today with a little problem, rear parking sensors only give 1×5 second bleep then nothing, now! Bearing in mind the bumpers have been off for spraying with all sensors removed, and obviously disconnected from the module. Question 1, should the battery have been disconnected before disconnection. Q2, would this impact on seat belt sounder warning, as it now chooses to sound any number of times sometimes only 1 bleep, maybe 3, occasionally the full 6 you get the picture, as well as these two posers , I also had to reset the one touch windows. None of these problems existed before the car went in for spraying. There having it in for test in the morning so I would like to be armed with some prior knowledge. I am aware the S types are voltage reliant and when checked tonight showed 12.1v at rest rising to 14.1v and i am aware that the 5 second beep on reverse selection signifies park assist non functional, so any ideas guys, module, sensor or what. The repaint, by the way was worth waiting for, pictures to follow.
  8. It's never been about market value, I lavish money on this car £5000 in the last 12 months, it's about the sheer enjoyment this vehicle gives and the smile it puts on mine and other people's faces when riding in the car. You and I, like all owners know maintainence costs can be somewhat higher, but you will agree, it's about the passion these cars invoke that makes it worth it.
  9. few piccys showing progress, next step flitting and Polish, judging by the finish now it should be like glass. Extremely impressed
  10. Having the chrome inserts colour coded same as car whilst the bumpers were off, will purchase Adamesh pre-painted grille surround and new badge when I have car back, like to think I had an input.
  11. Ready for colour on Thursday, possibly have her back next week looking resplendent, the jobs taken nearly a month but it should be worth the wait, and before any of you guys mention the sills, (surface rust only),I am getting them treated and cavity sealed.
  12. Don't have access to a vice, but have heard of it being done with screwed Rod and sockets. Been quoted £200+the dreaded tax.
