  1. Hi Keefster14, I am having difficulty responding to your post about updating an XF Sat Nave using a USB stick, the site is denying me access and my original post about my experience has disappeared!

in answer to your suggestion about sharing a USB, it is not possible, Jaguar have put a DRM (Digital Rights Management) system in place where it creates a specific Activation Code based on the VIN number of the individual car, this code can only be generated if a genuine order for the update is present on your Jaguar Navigation log in page.

I bit the bullet and bought the update (£174 inc. P&P) and ran it yesterday, it took 2 hours 55 minutes to complete plus a further 15 minutes to initialise. The let down is that when I checked the map version in the diagnostics screen, it reports that the mapping version is xx 16 xx, indicating that what they are advertising as 2017 mapping is actually 2016, something I am very unhappy about. I have written to them asking for an explaination, I will post their response, if and when I get a reply.

  2. Hello Phil, Why the apologies? I for one would be very grateful for any assistance with updating my 61 plate sat navigation, it's the first of face lifts. I've given up looking for an update on a USB, they seem to cost a ridiculous amount. Also heard horror stories of them not uploading correctly. Any info or assistance would be greatly appreciated Thank you
  3. Hello all, rear camera not working, pretty common, could be camera or loom, black screen when reverse selected. Not a massive issue investigating the loom if I could get to it! I can't get the flipping cross head studs on the boot lid liner to release, is there a nack to it, don't want to break them. Should be able to con check the loom then. Booked in for jag specialist to look at but seems daft to pay a fortune when I'm capable of belling it out myself and repairing it as well.
  4. Ralphiespal- Hi there, I too have the 61 plate facelift XF- did you have any joy obtaining the USB, if so may I ask how much and how easy was it to update. I have heard many horror stories! Many thanks
  5. Well, the !Removed! things started working again. Hmmm
  6. Hi, 61 Xf, touchscreen blank! Radio fine, phone fine, just no display? Dash indication normal. On/off button does nothing. Glove box opens so not in valet mode. Checked all the fuses in the boot. Tried turning off, locking it , restarting it...no joy. Any ideas guys?
  7. Hi all, its the same for me as many, mine is a 61 face lift model so uses the usb...looking at the problems people have had I'm not prepared to shell out a couple of hundred quid and lose 2 days of my life trying to update it....anyone willing to share a usb update stick? Costs etc. Should be fun today...Wiltshire to Norwich. ...I'll take a map lol
  8. Hi Paul, thank you for that, will check it again and might just do it as preventive maintenance. However...it's fixed! New fuel filter did the trick. Took it very gently at 40 to a friends garage, then when I was about 200 yds away , floored the throttle, sure enough both warning lights back on. Stuck a new filter in anyway, and then put the diagnostic on it...P0087- fuel rail low pressure. Cleared the warning, test drive...perfect. Took it right up the Rev range...no problems. If there's one bit of advice I can give to fellow members....change the fuel filter...for £35 it's worth every penny and its a piece of cake. Sitting stranded on the inside lane of a motorway is damn scary and could cost you your life!! Paul- thank you for your advice and help, I wonder if I picked up some poor fuel, might stick some Redex in the tank, just to make sure it's not got through to the injectors. Can't do any harm can it? Used to use it on my Accord religiously, haven't so far with the xf... anyone else use it as a matter of course?
  9. Hi Paul, have you got a pic of where you mean? While I'm sorting the issue I have I may as well look out for this!
  10. Hi, had the rear seat up and been underneath the swab, just looms, no connectors at all...wonder if Im looking I the right place?
  11. Hi, thank you. I'll go and have a look. ..does it make a difference that my rear seat doesn't fold?
  12. Hi, looking for some help guys...desperately. 61 xf 3.0d , last night on M4, pulled out to overtake at about 75-80, red triangle, engine system warning message. Car died, didn't even go to limp mode..managed to get to inside lane, couldn't get to hard shoulder cos it was barriered off! Traffic officers , police, very dangerous situation. ... Anyway traffic guys stopped all traffic, told me to get in and he'd push it 50 yards to hard shoulder, however, warning light had gone off, car started and drove it to safety of hardshoulder. Awaited recovery, had orange engine icon on dash but no red triangle. Ten minutes later, turned ignition on, engine icon had also gone off, car starts, sounds OK, no warnings. Got it recovered home. Ideas gents? Bit of trawling on the net has me leaning towards fuel filter. ...With no warning lights on, will it have logged a fault if I have the codes read.? Car was serviced in past month, not dealer, also had a mass air flow valve replaced just before Xmas. 70k on the clock Thanks in advance
