Yes I know this is an age off.. but I usually start things off quite a way in advance.. now I know winter is usually a dark grey sort of time of year with plenty of rain, wind, and bad weather leaving us
little choice but to hunker down in front of a TV watching archived film clips of our favourite cars on TopGear..

In south east UK we don't do this - we organise our bi-annual Brighton convoy & meet!

It's a great chance for you to have a break from the Christmas rush and shopping and to have some time with great company, fantastic cars, a mug of tea and something to eat..

Depending on how many people are interested I will try to get something more organised if I can..

In case you are wondering - this will be the third Bi-Annual Brighton meet and the details of the last one can be found here: http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-68/uk-south-east-meet-spring-summer-2014-brighton-107585/  if you want to check it out.
Just so you know who has indicated an interest (in no particular order) in attending on the day, so far it looks like this....

If you would like to be added please just make a post saying so (or if non member email me to be added) and I will be happy to add you to the list.

Listed below are Car details plus occupants (inc driver) where we have the info.

Current List:

SteveSheldon (me:-)) 2002 X-Type 2.5 (classic) manual + 1
Ngarara 2010 XKR 75 + 1

Total - 2 cars + 2 attendees.

As for the convoy from Crawley down the A23 to the venue we have:

SteveSheldon
Ngarara

Hi Guys, Apologies for my absence but I have been moving house - and all my time has gone on that - and my baby Jag has been hammered helping move stuff - it's amazing just how much an X-Type can carry.. I am still surrounded by bags and boxes, and my Baby Jag needs quite a few scuffs and scratches sorted but did perform faultlessly..
The date in December is not fixed yet, but I'll put the dates up nearer the time and whichever one the most people can make we'll go for it.. and thankyou for your post James - I'll get you added in to the list..
Thanks for bearing with me.. and give me another couple of weeks and I should be back to my usual levels of activity on the forums.. if you don't spot me on one of the forums you are always welcome to drop me a line at
stephen.sheldon@solidlinux.co.uk and give me a poke OK?
All the best
Steve

I know we are in a heatwave currently - but now is the time to book yourself a bright day (bright day -brighton - get it? Ok, maybe not so good :-)) with great company, fantastic cars, and anything I can get organised for us to brighten (see, all in the same vein :-)) winter for us, and give us a break from depending on TopGear reruns..

If you dont yet have anything concrete set for December yet, why not put your name down for a great day out by the seaside  - I promise no need for ice creams - but can offer mugs of hot tea, a big breakfast, and great conversation..

It costs nothing to put your name down, nothing to attend and you'll have a great time with likeminded people..
so why not? You know your car wants you to.. well, except mine that's not quite itself yet after my house move :-)

OK Guys, I'm at it again.. I know we have a summer meet to plan for next
year as well as this Winter one - I have just been in touch with the
Sponsorship manager at Jaguar UK to see if we can get their involvement -
I will update you should I hear back

Just to let you know I haven't heard from Jaguar as of yet - but no problems as plenty of time yet and I'm not holding my breath :-) I thought the same about dealership involvement but it came up trumps in
the end, and no doubt it will with Jaguar.

I am currently primarily looking to see who would like to come along to our third Bi-Annual Brighton meet - it costs nothing to sign up, you don't have to be 100% commited, the event costs nothing but parking and a fixed price meal and drink, you're guaranteed a Christmas shopping free day in December, great company, conversation, and of course a chance to check
out lots of our favourite cars.

Additionally this meet, whilst it is still remaining (and always will be :-)) a primarily Jaguar meet, I am also inviting some other marques along to join us this time, as at each meet so far there has been at least one car non Jaguar that has
come along.. and it generates a great opportunity for cross marque discussion :-)

Soooo... if you are possibly free in December for a TopGear sort of day and want a break from the Christmas rush - please
pop a post up here or email me directly (stephen.sheldon@solidlinux.co.uk) and lets make this a great day..

If you are reading this thread and are undecided as to if you should put
your name forward or not please do.. the more people we have onboard
the more I can hopefully swing things for us..
Yes it seems a long way off to some, but as the weeks go by it will come quicker than we think :-)
If
you put your name forward it costs you nothing *and* you are not
committed to come, you are just saying that you would like to attend.
It's a great day with the classic backdrop of the Brighton Promenades to contrast our cars!
Food and drink will be a fixed price deal that I will organise for just us for the day
Parking costs will be listed online before the day so you know exactly what you are going to be spending on the day!
There are no other costs to this - it's a free event by us, for us! :-)
The
day will start at Pease Pottage services, with a cruise down the A23 to
make an impact as we all go through Brighton and park up at Madiera
Drive.. followed by a meal and mugs of tea, and then over to the cars..
So if you are undecided - why not just put your name forward? You will be guaranteed a great day in December! If you are still not sure please have a look at the main thread for the last meet to see what you will have in store for you: http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-68/uk-south-east-meet-spring-summer-2014-brighton-107585/

Just to update you I am currently waiting on feedback from JLR global sponsorship & partnership manager.. I have been in touch a couple of times now :-) and am hoping I can obtain some positive feedback from him regarding the Brighton meets.. I can but hope and keep in contact with him :-)
Meanwhile though - it's still a while off but time is moving fast... We may be in a heatwave now, but in a few months we will all be reduced to dark nights, damp, cold weather and the usual winter doldrums.. what we need is something to look forward to, something that gives us a break from Christmas shopping, the weather and TopGear reruns.. why not sign yourself up for Decembers Bi-Annual Brighton Meet, and guarantee yourself a well earned break from all of it.. a bit like booking a holiday in the sun for winter knowing you have it to look forward to.. except this is for a convoy, and meet of Jaguar, and other supercar owners, mugs of tea, a big breakfast, plenty of cars to look around and listen to, great conversation, and of course fresh sea air to clear out those cobwebs. Go on, you know your car wants you to! If you might be free in December for one Sunday why not treat yourself and your car to a day out with great company.. pop a post up here to join, or drop me an email at stephen.sheldon@solidlinux.co.uk ...

Just so you know - I am still chipping away at Jaguar - I am hoping for a
positive response but its that fine line between chipping away too much
or not enough lol.. I will keep you guys informed if we get a
response... it would be the ultimate for me if I can get them involved
in the work we do promoting and appreciating Jaguar within our forums
and with the wider public..

Anyone wondering whether to come along or not - why not have a look at the thread for the last meet?

http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-68/uk-south-east-meet-spring-summer-2014-brighton-107585/

and you'll see what you could be missing out on... why not put your name forward and come along to a guaranteed good day out - sort of a Jaguarish TopGear sort of day...

If you are still undecided, why not put your name forward anyway - it's a
free event, costs nothing to sign up for, and even when signed up you
are not committed until the final date is voted on.. and it's even easy
to sign up to.. pop a post up here in the thread, email me at
stephen.sheldon@solidlinux.co.uk, or even whatsapp me your details at
07914116375. So go on, you know your car deserves a Christmas break, and
you deserve good conversation, food, mugs of tea, and some great cars
to look around.. why not put your name forward?

Hi Guys,

I have had a response from Jaguars Senior Manager for Sponsorship & Brand Partnerships saying that they view the Bi-Annual meet as a UK opportunity, and I have moved onto another member of Jaguar staff that deals with UK sponsorship.. I am somewhat more hopeful now that we can achieve a degree of support from JLR theirselves for our event.. I will keep you guys updated as I go, bearing in mind it has taken quite a few months to get this far with Jaguar :-)  I will keep plugging away as I really feel that we have a great event, and if we can get support from Jaguar theirselves there is so much more we can do for us and the cars we love so much..

OK I have the (currently) final response from Jaguar..

.. we are not taking on any new projects at the moment - got a lot on our plate!

I gave it a go :-( and apologies for failing, but not to worry I will revisit them next year in case the situation changes :-)

Meanwhile we still have our meet to organise.. I am still anticipating Harwoods Jaguar attending the meet along with a showroom car, and advice on servicing, and sales - any one interested in coming along in December please pop a post up her or drop me an email and I'll add you in. It is sure to be a great day, breaking up the winter doldrums we are all suffer with...

  • 2 weeks later...

OK guys, time for an update - not much of one as it is a quiet time of year and tracking anyone down is a bit of a nightmare lol .. on the day the Jag gallery, will ensure it is open for any meet attendees to have a look around for some culture (owned and hosted by a fellow Jag owner) and I *will* be able to arrange a fixed meal deal again for us - possibly with the same cafe, or another one I have in mind.

If anyone wants to be added to the list of interested members please pop a post up on here, drop me a pm via the forum or email me at stephen.sheldon@solidlinux.co.uk and I will add you in.. :-)
