Q1 to start things off - aux / iPod options for touchscreen CDC setup please

Hi All,

for those who haven't browsed the newbie section, I've just picked up my 03 STR. I have browsed the 50+ pages of the s type sub forum but couldn't find a conclusive answer to the question. I want to play my music from an iPod. Ideally an interface that uses the docking socket rather than the headphone out but whatever is possible would be helpful. Happy to lose the CDC to free you up the 'route in'. Any advice guys would be useful. Currently stacked the CDC up but I download music now so haven't got my favourites to hand. #21stcenturyproblems

Thanks in advance, Rich

I'm considering changing the head unit for something with digital line ins, but I have a pre facelift 2001 X200 which still has a tape deck (and CDC). This seemed cheaper and more appropriate for my model than the ACM...

Thanks very everyone's input. I take it the ACM's are like rocking horse manure ! I'd like to keep it as stock as possible. Ive tried FM transmitters years ago and found the quality a bit poor however newer ones may have improved. Oh well CDC for now and I'll keep my eyes peeled for an ACM. Thanks again all.

ACMs come up on ebay quite frequently Richard. The important thing is making sure that the full kit is being offered. Takes about 30 minutes to fit. If you go this route and need any help just let me know :)

Thanks for the info and offer. When you say full kit, what do I need to look for? Also what's a fair price would you say.

Hi

they go from £150 up to about £200, but there £400 new

you should get as a mininum

acm module, audio in/on off switch lead, ipod lead, power cable/stereo adapter lead, usb lead and mount, fibre optic lead, instructions

also there double sided sticky pad to mount module, some screws to mount usb mount and audio in/on off switch and a rubber grommet

I have one of these on mine you can still use the cd changer or the acm, through the cd changer screen, you can also use Jaguar voice, I use a 16gb flash drive, with all my music on it in mp3, all in different folders

its very good

I'm looking to get audio from smartphone / DAP into my 2006 STR.  Are ACM's still available and is fitting simple or are there decent alternatives that deliver good sound - I'm not keen on a FM transmitter, been there, never going back.

hi

ACM are still available, but there very expensive, new £300- £400 and used one sold the other day on eBay for £260

I'd go for parrot mki9200, there quite straight forward to fit, you can stream music from your phone and use the memory card slot for music aswell, it also a reasonable hands free kit

cheers

Joe
