remote locking problems

Hi every one,

I have a 2000 3.0 S Type, had her for about 6 months, only one problem with the lady, it`s the remote central locking.

In the morning i have to unlock drivers door manually then insert key in ignition and turn on and off, remove key and fob will work perfectly but if i lock the car with the fob and return some time later then i have to go through the whole process again, manual unlock etc etc.

i know there are two remote locking modules (one in the boot and one in the drivers door) but which one should i be changing first ??.

your help would be much appreciated  :)

Hi Charlie, Yes both Keys are displaying the same symptoms.

I know it is strange but I only have to insert the key in the ignition to disable & Silence the alarm and the key fob lock unlock works fine.

it would appear to be about a 40  min delay in locking the car and the fob signals being blocked (or not received)  as I returned to the car aftwer about 35min and all was good, however a break for a lunch at a motorway services will result in a few turned heads when the alarm goes off!

Hi guys. Have you found a solution for this? I'm in exactly the same situation.

Jaguar main dealer in Basingstoke verified that the keyfobs are indeed perfectly fine and immersing a signal correctly.

After two hours testing and diagnosing they confirmed that there are no faulty modules on the vehicle. Just the the door module goes offline after between 30 & 40 minutes. Suggesting a permanent live failure. This they said would initially require a technician to go through the wiring loom looking for any obvious defects.

Move done this myself and can't see anything obvious. So I asked them can you not run a new permanent live to the module to see if that works? (There's 3 din plugs on the door module, which controls the Windows, mirrors aswell as the keyless entry. God knows which one is the perminant live. I'm currently studying a document I found on google which apparently contains the whole wiring diagram of my 2003 s type.

Its a 3.0ltr auto sport and I've ran out of ideas. Although I have found a way in without setting the alarm off. (As this fault doesn't allow you to open the door and put the key in the ignition before the siren sounds)

has anyone got any ideas or has anyone solved this mystery.

Everything else works on the car perfectly.

Kindest regards,

Steve.

HI

  Hi.
Had a few problems with the elecrics on my 2006 model recently. Including twice refusing to lock with fob but Ok with key. Both times unlocked OK with fob. Once would not unlock from inside using door catch. Turned out the battery had only 12 volts and not the usual 12.6v. Might be worth a look.

I had this with the S-Type-R 2002 and fixed it by replacing the driver door module and the fuse box in the foot well.( fuse box was corroded a little but not sure if it was having an effect) and then the local dealer had to go to work on the programming of the new unit. works like a dream now.

This is really helpful, when you replace the rear sparewheel well fuse box is it plugged, or did you have to rejoin every wire individually?

Did it take long?

Did you just do one wire at a time matching the wire colours?

Sorry for all the questions, your the first person I've found to correct the problem.

Kindest regards,

Steve.
