  2. Morning all. I'm back in a Jag after having a Vauxhall for a few years (silly me). I've previously owned an XJ and an X Type, I'm now in a XF and I love it. It's a 3ltr Petrol version, not the most economical but not that bad. Take into account it's ULEZ free and it works out OK. The only problem I had was the laquear on the front bumper but with a bit of wet and dry and a can of spray paint and tin of liqueur it looks like new again. Happy motoring. Lyn
  3. Good morning. The xf is a good buy. Don't worry too much about the milage on these cars as they will have the same problems as any other cars. Just make sure it has a good service history and you will be fine. Also don't listen to people saying the petrol versions are expensive to run.
  4. Excellent news Pete and thanks for the update.🤙
  5. Can any one give me an idea of a price I could look for to sell my husbands etype, or how to get a valuation. It was originally a LHD converted to RHD when it returned from the USA to the UK, in 1988, it has an automatic gear box and a Jaguar enthusiast has commented that it is a straight honest car

  7. I've got an S Type 2002 in black for sale as parts if any is interested.
  8. I am preparing to have the timing chains and tensioners replaced and ridding myself of the Check Engine Light blues by taking Ian (that's his name) to my Jaguar specialist. He has some wear and tear on him, but is mechanically sound. His "Topaz" color is regal and he is having his trim repaired/replaced. Slowly, but surely this 24-year-old boy will be up and running light and fast.
  9. hi jim thanks for get back to me. i wil try that tomorrow thanks
  10. Newspaper (the biscuit in my old Volvo 760 was literally made of shoddy - compressed cardboard - you can imagine how that fared after 30 years getting repeatedly heated/cooled/damp/heated etc!)
  11. Yippee, the Discovery item cured the dribbles. Ìt's not listed as being suitable for the X350 but it looks exactly the same and fits perfectly. Almost unheard of for anything on a Jag to be fixed so cheaply and easily. Happy days.
  12. Hello I know this is a topic that has its owners for and against. I needed something modern with programs instantly available. The original unit just didn't fit the bill. Once I had picked my new unit I had to find someone to fit it. I found an amazing young chap who made sure everything was to my needs. He was also very reasonable with the fitting price. If any members are interested in this type of audio system then let me know. If anyone wants to see some photos I would be happy to post some.

  14. I am now the proud owner of a Jaguar S-Type R, it arrives next Tuesday. One of the first things I need to do is change the tyres, I would like to use Michelin Cross-Climates, I use them on all my cars and just love them. Clearly demonstrating I didn't do my research, I have discovered that the front tyres are 245/40/18 (8" wheels) whilst the rears are 275/35/18 (9.5" wheels). Rears tyres are not available. Has anyone got any suggestions? Change the rear wheels for the 8" for example?
  15. Hello S type members. My second hand car Just bought is a 4.2 supercharged s type 2008 reg no, LY57 CVR I do need some help here regrettably.... as an `s type` lover but a mechanical dinosaur at my age of 78 where most things seem rather confusing. My last long lived s type has died and I bought another in very good condition and low mileage with a walnut lounge interior. Whilst I love the car I am finding that my battery is drawing dead every two days without use. An electrical engineer outfit in Scarborough has indented the possible leakage from a number of relays in the boot which were showing hot and it seemed that the drain could be from them in operating a device or system which is faulty. However I was told that without a full wiring diagram he cannot trace this. He has been on line to find one from the usual source but non are available. I do hope you can help me in tracing one so he can fix my car..... as at my age and living in the outback as it were .....is a real problem for me without a useable car. God Bless. Mike 07479 463570 mike-johnson2@sky.com the garage where the car will be fixed is A C C E in Scarborough and the guy is Mark 01723 374113 sales@acce.co.uk
  16. Hi John Thank you for replying, yes I managed to fix it. I bought an XF drivers seat module and it worked. I still had problems with the windows but when my local auto electrician looked he found it was down to corroded connections. I've got quite a collection of modules and switches now,I just thought they might come in handy one day. Take care. Andy
  17. Hi John and Ian, I've just joined having recently bought an X-Type 2l TD. However, I'm not new to Jags: my father had several and I have previously owned an XJS plus a Daimler Sovereign when I was much younger, lol.
  18. I have exactly the same issue: 2004 2L diesel. Problem is not constant but when it happens it 's like it goes into limp mode. As Frank stated, turning ignition on and off clears the problem.
  19. Hi all I have seen previous posts but wanted any utd info or help please? The stop start has failed (not that bothered but thinking of selling so putting any faults right, then i may keep it anyway! The main battery registers good voltage but the auxilary battery shows nothing..it doesn't even light up the tester As these are not cheap i just wonder if there is anything else other than just a completely flat battery? On another issue all doors open and close on remote except for front passenger door which i can only open manually from inside so any clues on that please? Thanks from a new member
  20. I’ve booked to go to June event at National Motor Museum, and would like to join you if I can it’s a 4 hour drive to your event but may make it a weekend away. I’ll confirm if I can make it. ian
  21. Here I am changing the hood release cable from a two piece to single cable. I have a 3.6m brake cable and pinch bolts, these are bicycle parts. I remove the pear nipple and retain the barrel nipple. I am going to secure the cable with two pinch bolts, they will exchange with the standard cable attachments. After cutting the cable attachment the 1st release cable can be pulled thru the cable outer from the driver compartment. Then the second cable release is cut and removed. Although the replacement cable is thicker (1.5mm) it still fits thru the original cable outer. Here I have passed it into the engine compartment. The pinch bolt must be placed on the cable before passing thru the second cable outer. Then it is a simple case of securing the second pinch bolt and the hood catch mechanism. I have had the standard hood release cable break and after some thought this is my solution, it is quite secure and durable, low cost and took about 1.5hrs labour - negating the need to replace the entire cable assembly -which is no small job. Quite within the capability of an independent garage or competent mechanic.
  22. Having reluctantly sold my beautiful XK8, I am left with a very good quality and little-used car cover! Fully waterproof, easy to fit. Would fit any similar size car. Cost £150 new, open to sensible offers.
  23. 2016 XE S 3L v6 - The front passenger side break caliper logo plate has fallen off. Only replacement I can see online is Ebay and is for an F Pace. Does anyone know if they are the same? Thanks
  24. Sorry just logged in again. Now all fixed and working a treat. Thanks for the offer though; appreciated.

  26. It's certainly getting to the age where you will see a decline in numbers with owners scrapping or breaking the car. As it's neither too new or too old, it is in a limbo stage to become a classic, as yet....however, if you've had the foresight to acquire one then it's worth hanging onto and keeping in tip-top condition to further increase its value as it becomes even rarer over time Feel free to post up some pics of it if you would like to?
  27. Hi Neil....welcome to the Club As long as its Jaguar related you're welcome to post in the forums 🙂 Used to be the in-thing to strap a Jaguar IRS to the back end of custom cars back in the 70's and 80's very versatile and easy to fit as in a subframe and could huge amounts of power through the axle
  28. Hi Dave....welcome to the Club Good to hear you're enjoying the Jaguar experience and long may it continue
