  5. Regarding the SDD, I have one but although it finds my VIN and all the checks are green, when it tries to run the scan it reads the first 2 modules and then stalls at 13%. after about 5 minutes of trying it gives a notice that it is unable to retrieve the data. I can't figure out what the problem is.
  6. Hello Joe, thank you for your suggestions. Things have moved on a bit since I last posted and the situation as I see it now is that the longer that the engine is stopped, the harder it it to start. For instance I can stop the engine and it will restart immediately after just a few minutes but if I leave it for 20 minutes then it will need probably 5 tries to start it. If I leave it overnight then it will not start at all. but if I leave the ignition switched on (in tank pump running) for 10 minutes then it will start immediately. My thought was that perhaps there was a check valve that was not closing and pressure was leaking back to tank but now having read the workshop manual I see that there is a system that prevents you from running the fuel tank completely empty. At about 5 ltrs in the tank, it will inhibit starting until the tank is filled again. I am wondering if it is this system that is causing my problem. The funny thing is that no DTC are flagging up

  10. Hi Daniel, I have a 3.0 sovereign X type and I think good ones are getting quite hard to get hold of .Mine has the manual gearbox which makes it fun and quite fast to drive if the urge should strike. (Not that the need for speed hits me very often !).Lovely cars, welcome aboard.😀

  12. I have an X Type 3.0, petrol, registered November 2002. 70,000 miles. FSH. New accelerator throttle butterfly valve, new radiator, new battery, new headliner board. Any offers? Location SW France.
  13. Hi cheapest place for CATS dampers is usually Moss Europe. you could swap them, but obviously you will lose the active damping, also you will get regular cats damping faults on you dash and warning light, also when they go into fault, the dampers default to hard, so your new normal fronts ones will be usually medium to soft ride and the rear shocks will be stuck in hard, so you would have to replace all 4 shocks, then ideally need the cats coded out with software, or you could connect resistors to the connector at the top of the shock to fool it to think there still connected, this also may effect how the car handles. if you need any workshop manuals look here http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe
  14. Hi You may have more than one fault from the sounds of it The Alarm and imobiliser are completely seperate, the beeping sound will more than like be the sounder, if its beeping, then its the active sounder, almost all car now at this age the battery backup in the sounder are usually no good and most times they discharge the main battery and cause regular nuisance alarms, this can be proven by just unplugging the active sounder, its in a metal box under the fuse box in the engine bay The non starting fault sounds like bad glow plugs, turning the key off and on, will restart the glow plug heaters, doing this multiple times will make it start far easier, odds are some of the 6 glow plugs have failed, glow plugs always become a problem this time of year as it get colder, there not needed when the temp is warmer. to get accurate fault codes and possible remedies on S-type you need to plug it into Jaguar IDS/SDD, SDD is whats compatible with yours and that will give you accurate fault codes if you need workshop manuals look here http://www.jagrepair.com/ Cheers Joe

  16. I need a new rear left hand wing, part number FNC3321AA. If anyone is sitting on two new front wings I might also be interested. Thanks, Alek
  17. If you have the mongoose then go to these people to obtain V131. As they say - 131V – this version is the last one which doesn’t require Topix account and you can use programming functions offline. It covers Jaguar 1996-2012 and Land Rovers 2005 – 2012. 131V works only on XP Pro but if you don’t have this old system then we can send you preinstalled version on VMware https://tools4car.co.uk/product/jlr-ids-sdd-v131-03-jaguarlandrover-diagnostic-software/ ______________________ Regarding the battery sounder, remove fuse F7 from the passenger fuse box then lock the car via the key transponder. The arm led will not lite and after 30 minutes the car will not respond to the key fob, it will go into a deep sleep. However the battery sounder will be inactive. If this stops erroneous alarm activation you know this is the basis of your problems. To enter the car after this, unlock the driver door and insert key into the ignition. Re-insert F7 and then set about removing the battery sounder.
  18. Justin, I bought the JLR Mongoose to try and identify the problem. I installed the program on a windows 7 32bit laptop and it seems to function correctly. At least it finds the vehicle VIN but when I select diagnostics, it starts to get the data but at 13% it stops and won't go further. after a while I get a message to data acquisition could not be completed. I have tried it many times but always get the same result. Any ideas?
  19. I found a great guy today and sorted all but the front chrome trim. The car should be in the bodyshop soon 😀
  20. Good spot, that's the best donor I have found. I spoke to the seller a few days ago, he does have a bonnet (and thinks he might have some other bits), but is not super keen shipping it to England. I have a friend with a salvage yard not too far away from the listing so he is going to check it out for me when he gets a chance.
  21. This guy may have all the parts you need, worth a call; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304199311252#:~:text=THIS CAR IS FOR PARTS,EXAMPLE LABOUR IS NOT COVERED.
  22. Hi Lez, you could try these people : https://www.warrantywise.co.uk/car-warranty/?utm_adgroup=used car warranty - exact&msclkid=8f613d35c856159b35e35438d16a7938&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Used Car Warranty - Exact Match&utm_term=Used Car Warranty&utm_content=Used Car Warranty - Exact There are other companies around that do similar where you can buy a warranty for a used car you've recently bought, good luck with it!
  23. Hi All, For a long while I have been looking for a Manual facelift XJS, last week I final found one that has had a minor crash. I work in the salvage industry and have repaired many personal vehicles over the years so the repair doesn't faze me. The car has been well cared for, so I don't have a huge amount to do apart from fixing the ding. I am looking for a bonnet, nearside rear corner light, front grill, chrome trim above grill and mid-section chrome for the top of the front bumper. Both front lights (and bezels) were damaged but I don't need these as I have bought a twin light conversion kit from an amazing local specialist (Norman Motors). Working in the industry, I am reasonably well connected for recycled parts, but none of my existing contacts in mainland UK have what I need. For the last few days I have been messaging sellers on eBay, emailing breakers and specialist as well as generally getting my head around who the go to people in the industry are. Most of the parts that I need are available, but I want to make sure I have all my options before making my purchases in the days ahead. If anyone has a recommendation of a source or any of you have the parts to for sale, please let me know. I will post a few snaps of the car to share the damage... I didn't mention the wings in the parts list as I will repair the ones on the car. Part Needed: Bonnet Nearside rear corner light Front grill Chrome trim above grill Mid-section chrome for the top of the front bumper All the best Piers
  24. Hello everyone! IN AYRSHIRE SCOTLAND hope you are all well and happy in our car world! I have just bought my first Jaguar.. It; is a 2015 XE - Manual, Diesel 2 ltr...HARD to FIND A MANUAL Any recommendations for a warranty for a 10 year old well looked after Jag? In Ayrshire Scotland? xx
  25. Press the lock/arm button on the fob rapidly about 6-10 times. Also if you have a spare key, check whether it will start with that, it's not unknown for a key with an RFID chip inside for the immobiliser to "lose" it's code and cease to operate the immobiliser disarm. Are you able to read the DTCs at all?
  26. I purchased an x100 1999 XKR in June, I have always loved these cars, never owned one before. It ran perfectly fine until I went away for 2 weeks and the battery had obviously gone flat, once charged I tried to restart the the car and the system check goes ahead but the car will not crank, long story short I have gone through every fuse, SLM module and ultimately found that the immobiliser has disabled the engine, how do I reset the immobiliser? Have tried to get an auto locksmith to come and have a look at it, but not a single soul seems interested, most frustrating, I am based near Bishops stortford, if anyone has any suggestions as to who I can call, or ultimately if I can sort this out myself, I would be grateful.
  27. Hi everyone, driving down the motorway today my EML came on. Car is 2.0D 2017 125000 miles booked in to Halfords next to work to at least diagnose as no other symptoms and they read the following codes: p2BAE-00 NOx Exceedance P25A9-13 piston Cooling oil circuit/open P049B-00 Exhaust Gas recirculation like I say no other symptoms. Had a google of these and a few different things come up as expected. Not clear which one triggered the EML but seeing things from Ad-Blue sensor mucky or failing piston solonoid failing or more onerous the timing chain is loose and cause this error. I know Inginium engines have timing chain issues so one to monitor but don’t have a low oil warning or any issues with oil level? The garage reset the codes and they didn’t come back on but I’ve bought a carissa monitor so can at least monitor what comes back up more readily. Also bought some wynns fuel and ad blue cleaning incase it is just mucky sensors. Any advice on what to check or keep an eye out for? Like I say 125000k miles so wondering if I should be looking at timing chain replacement regardless 🤔

  29. OK OK OK I know I just keep asking questions, BUT you guys/girls have done it to yourselves by being so helpful 😁😁 I have a lot of niggly problems with this car but for some reason I want to keep it and fix it, the front shocks are leaking and need replacing, looking around trying to find front strut assemblies without selling my bottom on the streets is not an option (Yes I have the CATs system) my question is can I just install normal Struts and not reconnect the CATs wires and if so will it cause any issues ? See a simple question NOT Thank you in advance for your help. Gary Alias Jagvette1 on You Tube
  30. I came across Suffolk Sportscars (as i think they were called then) some 35 years ago when their range was just the one model, think it was a D Type replica or similar. First time i've seen one of their SS100 models and first knowledge i had of that model reincarnation. Beautiful to see and learn of its existence though.
