Sealed up a leaking rhs tail light. Decided to do the lhs while I was there. Very easy to take out and put back. Will go an aftermarket upgrade for the rear view mirror fix. Cheers.

Hi Everyone - I just acquired a non-running Jaguar XK8, 1999. The body and running gear are accident-free, rust free and generally in good shape - except for the engine, which was damaged when the timing chain either slipped or broke. So I have a long haul ahead of me, to bring the car back to running condition. Right now, I need access to a wiring diagram so I can test out the various components and make sure there are no issues. Can someone please point me to a wiring diagram for this model? Thanks for your help.

There is an article in the JEC magazine, January 2021, on a successful repair to the interior mirror problem. It was resolved by spending a bit of time and effort to separate the existing mirror parts, make a template of the mirror glass and have a local glass company cut a new standard mirror piece to use in its place. The correct Jaguar part replacement is unlikely to be available and when it was / is costs roughly £400 and second hand units are just as likely to fail in the same manner as your original. If you want to go hunting for an original replacement, get the correct part number from the Jaguar Classic parts website and run your search. The chap in the magazine article did just that, but ended up with a repair for just £10.50 and a few lessons learned. For the leaking boot, check the seals around the periphery of the opening, especially at the top edges, could be a corrosion issue. N6 JMX

Look at the SNG Barrett website for a good alternator at sensible prices. N6 JMX

If not will have to change. Any tips or info? Have ordered a Haynes manual ? How big a job ? Also I was told some of the cheaper replacements on web do not always work well or for long or cause other issues Any advice on good make that orks and not too pricey or is alternator repair place best option ?

I have a similar thing on my 99 S Type, if i open the boot before arming the alarm, often it will not arm/set. If i open and close one of the doors (drivers door usually) i can then set the alarm. I've put this down to perhaps a worn door open switch on the drivers door or possibly whichever module (BCM perhaps) not recognising all doors are shut. It sounds to me as if you have a similar problem brewing but in a later stage. Also worth checking to see if it does it with your spare key, if it doesn't, get yourself a replacement spare and start using the spare key.

Hi, My 2015 XJL has developed an intermittent problem of on occasions it will not turnover and start. This appears to be linked with opening and closing the boot as the non-starting can occur after I have placed something in the boot and sometimes can start after opening and shutting the boot. Recently the engine stopped when in traffic I pulled into the side of the road to allow oncoming traffic through…..the ECO stop start stopped the engine and it refused to restart. I opened the boot using the switch on the dash, got out of the car and closed the boot, got back into the car and it started. The battery is new and has been coded into the car. I have had the boot latch and starting motor replaced and the problem exists. Earthing appears to be OK. My local Jaguar dealer can not find the issue and neither can local auto electricians ? I am at my wits end !!! Have any of you guys come across this issue and advise me how it was resolved.

First thing that springs to mind would be this : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/357133847843 There are cheaper Chinese units available, i picked that one to give you an idea whats available. My own S Type is a 1999 model so has the older style dash and no "off the shelf" option so i bought a dead stereo with the right colour surround and built a 9" Android unit into it - i must finish the job and get it fitted!

I have a 2006 s type which I've been told you can't update the sat nav later than 2012. Does anyone know of anything I can do to solve this issue? It runs on a dvd .

Finally solved map upgrade issues. Jaguar where excellent 🏆Lloyds jaguar Houghton le spring did themselves proud with a little backwards and forward. Dropped of car 8 courtesy car, washed, hoovered returned by 4 . TCU &IMC update. Now my car is talking and I can update maps and live coverage. Cost was bearable, experience sometimes frustrating but a positive outcome

Infotainment System 2010 XKR - Outside Ambient Temperature
Big John replied to Mike Y's topic in New Members Introductions
Hi Mike I had exactly the same issue on 2013 XF Sportbrake. Totally confused the garage as not fixed after replacing the external sensor. It seems the computer still relies on previous readings until the car has been turned off for over 6 hours so, fingers crossed, it may be OK when you have left it overnight..... Good luck John -

Breakdown COVER ie The AA, do i need it on a new Jag i-pace?
The Voices replied to Mr R Turner's topic in Jaguar I-Pace Club
Very confused ? How did you manage to buy a new I-Pace in June 2025, as dealers, we had to register every new Jaguar we had by the end of October 2024. Every new Jaguar includes 3 years roadside assist anyway (which is administered by the AA) as part of the manufacturers warranty package. - Earlier

Breakdown COVER ie The AA, do i need it on a new Jag i-pace?
LairdScooby replied to Mr R Turner's topic in Jaguar I-Pace Club
As i always say, it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Even new cars break down and the cost of AA cover Vs the cost of an enforced motorway tow is comparatively nothing. -
Hi thanks for that it has given me a guide line

Hello, I don't know if this helps. I live in a small village just outside of Bristol, and my local village garage changed the timing belt, water pump, etc in my car, the same year as yours at the start of the year for £1063.

Hi all, I’m the owner of a 2010 XKR 5.0 Supercharged. The outside temperature on the infotainment screen flashes between ambient and -40°, when this occurs the HVAC fails to operate (including the blower). Occasionally the issue resolves itself and everything related works as normal until the car is restarted. Battery has been replaced along with ambient air temperature sensor (nearside door mirror). I would be grateful if anyone in the group has experienced/remedied this before I go down the diagnostics path. Thanks in advance, Mike

Have a look on this page for the correct VIN range, then with the part number just google it for suppliers; https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/400.1293.3744.16495/brand/jaguar/
