Just as most others are saying that independent Jaguar specialists are great. Mine does a far better job than I have got before from main dealers and I usually pay around £300 for a major service. No frills just great work.

I have a problem with the gloplug light coming on if I accelerate hard.the car goes into limp mode until I switch engine off and restart. Have the turbo cleaned out and injectors cleaned and full service. Problem still persists. for normal driving car runs like a sewing machine and acceleration is not a problem, unless . I tread on the pedal. If car is stationary can rev it round the clock but light does not come on so can't understand why it only comes on when under heavy load. Any ideas would be much appreciated

Hi Julian, you could try one of the specialist Jaguar Breakers such as Euro Jag, they currently list full replacement wing mirrors for the X-150 models. The link below should take you there safely. Shop | Eurojag Limited N6 JMX

Some hooligan smashed the backing (and glass) on the drivers wing mirror. What I thought would be simple to replace is proving impossible. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement backing? Its a 2006 X150 in black.

Thanks, I know its not the tyres as said, I have moved them around. I guess the drive shaft could be a good place to start. Don't have the tools but this gives me something to go to the mechanic with!

You don't clarify as to whether the vibration or "limp" is only there when braking from speed or whether there is a vibration at the rear when travelling at a constant speed. If the vibration is there all of the time, especially when travelling at constant speed, the most likely culprit is tyres, differential or driveshafts - potentially a driveshaft has suffered a minor distortion and that would result in both vibration and / or the limp. If you have access to a dial gauge indicator, you could check if the driveshafts are running true or suffering a minor out of round. N6 JMX

Hi, Having a mare of a time with my 2011 XF 3.0D V6 Facelift Model I've got my XF on a ramp in a garage (Garage unable to source any) and can't seem to get a correct set of all 4 Flexible hoses, No stock anywhere. Main Dealer states Brake Hoses on 'Back Order' but have no idea of a due date. I've been supplied the incorrect parts from a couple of different sources as they have assured me they are the ones for my car, but still no joy. Has anybody here had any luck finding or sourcing the four Hoses from the Body to the Calipers.

Break -
Thanks mate. I have tried the braking thing and it doesn't help so I can only assess that its not brake dust. I did think about a caliper, but would that make the car limp as described?

Sounds like you’re going to have to overhaul the brake calipers On the other hand… It’s a known thing that pad deposits can build up on the discs and cause this juddering A good few heavy braking sessions from speed can remove these deposits and cure the problem till it comes back
-
About a year ago, I took the car to the garage as I had quite a bad vibration from the rear when I was braking. It was quite bad on motorways and higher speeds. Garage recommended I replaced pads and discs. So I ended up replacing them all round. Problem seemed to stop however, at lower speeds, such as when I am slowing to a stop at traffic lights, it feels as if there is limp from the rear offside wheel, as if it is oval shaped. I have swapped the wheels and the limp is still there so I know it is not a tyre or wheel issue, and now the juddering has returned when braking. I have jacked up the car and spun the wheels and cannot hear any bearing issues. I am going to have to take her back to the garage but I feel a bit fobbed off by them by stating that the pads and discs were the issue, when it appears they weren't. Anyone had this issue before? Any ideas what it could be?

Hi Charlotte, I am not overly familiar with the X-type but from a general knowledge perspective, practically all of the "modules" in a modern Jaguar need to be programmed to the car. This can be achieved, I believe, using the Jaguar or Auto Logic diagnostic equipment. Not sure it is something the home mechanic can readily achieve though. You say you have already tried lots of fixes, but have you tried a new battery in the car? Again, modern Jaguars rely very heavily on a good battery and it would amaze you how many, apparently random and unrelated faults are thrown up by a failing battery, which can still start the vehicle, but have voltage spikes that upsets the electronics. I recommend that the battery be considered a consumable and changed when it gets to 5 years old. As given, the ability to start the car is no longer the best measure of the battery's health. N6 JMX

Welshjames started following Seat Sensor??
-
Hi All. Ive got a 61 plate XF S Portfolio. The car is registering someone in the passenger seats when it’s empty. If you put the seatbelt in it’s fine. Sometimes if you push on the base of the seat, the light will go out. Would this be a faulty seat occupancy sensor? Thanks james
