  2. Well I have now managed to change the alarm sounder, not a job I enjoyed as I am not happy up close to air bags!! But too it steady and once the air bag and its frame was out of the way the alarm sounder was easy to see hidden low down on the bulkhead. the replacement fitted and air bag put back it only took a couple of hours in total. Reconnected the battery, reset parking brake, windows etc. and went for a spin. Some two hours later measured the current drain which was now some 100mA far better. Not quite down to the 30mA mentioned by John but a big improvement. so thanks to all for your input, will enjoy the driving now with more confidence that my electrics are all working well. Pete

  4. Can any one give me an idea of a price I could look for to sell my husbands etype, or how to get a valuation. It was originally a LHD converted to RHD when it returned from the USA to the UK, in 1988, it has an automatic gear box and a Jaguar enthusiast has commented that it is a straight honest car

  6. I've got an S Type 2002 in black for sale as parts if any is interested.
  7. I am preparing to have the timing chains and tensioners replaced and ridding myself of the Check Engine Light blues by taking Ian (that's his name) to my Jaguar specialist. He has some wear and tear on him, but is mechanically sound. His "Topaz" color is regal and he is having his trim repaired/replaced. Slowly, but surely this 24-year-old boy will be up and running light and fast.
  8. hi jim thanks for get back to me. i wil try that tomorrow thanks
  9. Hi Allan, Put the mirror in it’s driving position first. Now adjust the glass inwards. Now put your fingers into the side of the glass and simply pull. It will just pop of it’s mounting. Make sure your other hand is there to steady the glass in case it falls.
  10. Newspaper (the biscuit in my old Volvo 760 was literally made of shoddy - compressed cardboard - you can imagine how that fared after 30 years getting repeatedly heated/cooled/damp/heated etc!)
  11. hi all im looking for help how to remov driver door mirror glas on xk 150 06 reg allan
  12. Yippee, the Discovery item cured the dribbles. Ìt's not listed as being suitable for the X350 but it looks exactly the same and fits perfectly. Almost unheard of for anything on a Jag to be fixed so cheaply and easily. Happy days.
  13. Headliner ( when the X350 headlining sags the big polystyrene lump that it's glued onto, known as 'The Biscuit', has to come out to make a job of it). (How do I know???)
  14. Hello I know this is a topic that has its owners for and against. I needed something modern with programs instantly available. The original unit just didn't fit the bill. Once I had picked my new unit I had to find someone to fit it. I found an amazing young chap who made sure everything was to my needs. He was also very reasonable with the fitting price. If any members are interested in this type of audio system then let me know. If anyone wants to see some photos I would be happy to post some.

  16. Hi Guys and Gals, As above, SERIOUSLY intending to buy a Jag in next few months as changing job and am being given some money by new employers to replace current company car ! lol Have always loved Jags and was very surprised to see that there seemed to be a wide choice available in my price range (max £4k in reality) .............. Current fave model to go for is an XF - but can be persuaded to change if its good enough ! Anyway, looking for advice on the following :- 1) What to look out for on the older models 2) How the general driver experience will be in the future and lastly, 3) What horrors may await me in the future ! Thx for any advice given ! Paul R
  17. I am now the proud owner of a Jaguar S-Type R, it arrives next Tuesday. One of the first things I need to do is change the tyres, I would like to use Michelin Cross-Climates, I use them on all my cars and just love them. Clearly demonstrating I didn't do my research, I have discovered that the front tyres are 245/40/18 (8" wheels) whilst the rears are 275/35/18 (9.5" wheels). Rears tyres are not available. Has anyone got any suggestions? Change the rear wheels for the 8" for example?
  18. Hello S type members. My second hand car Just bought is a 4.2 supercharged s type 2008 reg no, LY57 CVR I do need some help here regrettably.... as an `s type` lover but a mechanical dinosaur at my age of 78 where most things seem rather confusing. My last long lived s type has died and I bought another in very good condition and low mileage with a walnut lounge interior. Whilst I love the car I am finding that my battery is drawing dead every two days without use. An electrical engineer outfit in Scarborough has indented the possible leakage from a number of relays in the boot which were showing hot and it seemed that the drain could be from them in operating a device or system which is faulty. However I was told that without a full wiring diagram he cannot trace this. He has been on line to find one from the usual source but non are available. I do hope you can help me in tracing one so he can fix my car..... as at my age and living in the outback as it were .....is a real problem for me without a useable car. God Bless. Mike 07479 463570 mike-johnson2@sky.com the garage where the car will be fixed is A C C E in Scarborough and the guy is Mark 01723 374113 sales@acce.co.uk
  19. As they are generally electrical problems, the first thing to do is to check your battery voltage at the terminals.
  20. Hi John Thank you for replying, yes I managed to fix it. I bought an XF drivers seat module and it worked. I still had problems with the windows but when my local auto electrician looked he found it was down to corroded connections. I've got quite a collection of modules and switches now,I just thought they might come in handy one day. Take care. Andy
