ian. the vallet code is to stop some one else driving your car even though they have a key for it on them. more or less like a pin no for your bank card. ive not set one one my xk. to set it i would imagine all you have to do is insert a 4 digit pin code in to it. if you have allready done that and cant remember your pin then im am affraid i cant help you sorry but for all i know you might be trying to nick that car .contact your nearest Jaguar dealer for help regards charlie

ps. should have added this is a good feature on the new jags it stops somebody else taking your car without your permission. once the valet code has been set. regardless ,weather you have the smart key on your person. the car will ask for the code before it starts. a very clever and good idea in my opinion. but unfortune, if you forget it, then its ither the hand book or main dealer. to reset it along with security questions, not saying that ian is stealling the car but dont know what else to do apart from that to get him back on the road. charlie

valet mode allows the vehicle to be locked by a parking attendant, without giving access to the luggage compartment and glove box.

It also prevents operation of the touch screen , to prevent access to telephone numbers and navigation addresses .

The car can be started and parked in valet mode .

You should be able to set up another code via the touch screen  under "vehicle settings".

If it is stuck in valet mode and the pin is forgotten, open the boot using the emergency key, this cancels valet mode

ATB,

Trevor
