The next Bi-Annual Brighton Convoy & Meet will be happening on 24th May 2015 - Just 9 & 1/2 weeks away
now! This meet will be our fourth one, and we will have been running this event for two years now!

This Spring/Summer event is Jaguar exclusive, but if you have a car of another marque don't worry - the Winter event will again be open to all marques with a warm Jaguar welcome for everyone.

For those who don't know, the event comprises of two components - an initial meet at Pease Pottage Services with Welcome packs and goodie bags handed out, and a convoy at a steady 65mph down to the main meet and event in Madiera Drive, Brighton. The distance is approx 24 miles on major roads which should ensure all attendees can manage it without issue.

At the main meet in Brighton we have fixed price breakfasts, photo shoots, socialising, industry attendees there to answer all those questions you have never managed to get answered, a FREE prize draw for some SNG Barrett goodies, and more - and all with the backdrop of the Victorian promenades, and everything a family could possibly want on a day out with the Pier, the beaches, the sea gently rolling in, the Proms, and a huge local shopping centre.

This year we are sandwiched in the middle of a month of MG, Mini, and Classic Car Meet days so I am sure our meet will raise a lot of interest... esp with one or two brand new showroom XE's there, literally *just* delivered to Harwoods Brighton, hopefully in attendance on the day!!

We are already listed as an official event with Brighton & Hove, & East Sussex Councils - and I am working on trying to get further advertising and newspaper coverage in place if I can,,

Another quick update - I have spoken again to another potential industry speaker/attendee & I believe they will be coming along on the day - they specialise in paintwork and bodywork maintenance and repair..

I need to give them another call on Tuesday to confirm they are definately able to attend, but it is looking good...

Ok time for a summary for those of you who have lost track of things, or are wondering if you should come along (and you really should or you will miss a GREAT day out)

We currently have:

43 vehicles & 66 attendees coming along with Jaguar production covered from 1968 through to 2014, with brand new showroom 2015 XE's due to join us on the day with test drive bookings being taken!

Free Welcome Packs with a select range of info and goodies for you from multiple sponsors - guaranteed goodies of interest. PLUS a FREE prize draw on the day for some great SNG Barrett goodies!

A fixed price breakfast for less than a fiver (cheaper than last year!)

Car specialist attendees there to answer your technical queries - one guaranteed and currently working on two others.

A chance to socialise with the people you know so well on the forums.

Exchange problems & fixes.. solving that car issue you can't quite figure out.

Get to see a huge range of Jaguars with the backdrop of the victorian promenades on the Brighton seafront.

This event is suitable for abolutely everyone - I will be bringing my family along this year as Brighton Pier is just metres from our meet location, the arcades, The Lanes, and even the main shopping centre, making it great for everyone from diehard petrolheads right through to my nine year old son and younger.

Sooo much going on - why do anything else? The event is FREE to everyone - the only costs being the fixed price breakfast and the parking - even those costs will be listed when the itinerary goes online so those of us on a budget know exactly what we need to pay out on the day, no surprises! There is nothing hidden with this event - especially not the fact that is will be a great day out!!

OK a little more news - or not depending on how you think of it :-)

Because the convoy component starts at Pease Pottage Services I have popped some small lineage adverts up in the local press in Crawley/East Grinstead areas to see if we can flush out some Jaguar owners, maybe with some of the older examples from between 1968 and 1998 that might want to come along.

I should know the final details about the sequence and timing of events of the day, next week, so the itinerary should be appearing on the thread towards the end of next week - so keep an eye out for it.

Additionally, I am waiting on a callback from the Brighton & Hove Highway Events Team, just to double check that nothing has changed regarding Madiera Drive being available on the day.. as I need to be 100% surer than sure before we all head down there... better to double check than not :-) and it had better not - because I have already started putting the Welcome Packs into print for us :-)

As always I will let you know as things develop regarding our convoy and meet through this thread...

OK... a little bit of an update for you...

I have still heard nothing back from the local papers regarding covering our convoy and meet, so I have widened my net and am trying to get coverage in the local independant newspapers for us - as always if I hear anything I will let you know.

This thread has had almost 10,000 hits across the master thread and the forums that host copies of it! That is incredible... we have over 60 people signed up so far, over 40 vehicles from a Mk2 through to an XE...

The next Bi-Annual Brighton Convoy & Meet will be happening on 24th May 2015 - Just over 8 weeks away now! This meet will be our fourth one, and we will have been running this event for two years now!

This Spring/Summer event is Jaguar exclusive, but if you have a car of another marque don't worry - the Winter event will again be open to all marques with a warm Jaguar welcome for everyone.

For those who don't know, the event comprises of two components - an initial meet at Pease Pottage Services with Welcome packs and goodie bags handed out, and a convoy at a steady 65mph down to the main meet and event in Madiera Drive, Brighton. The distance is approx 24 miles on major roads which should ensure all attendees can manage it without issue.

At the main meet in Brighton we have fixed price breakfasts, photo shoots, socialising, industry attendees there to answer all those questions you have never managed to get answered, a FREE prize draw for some SNG Barrett goodies, and more - and all with the backdrop of the Victorian promenades, and everything a family could possibly want on a day out with the Pier, the beaches, the sea
gently rolling in, the Proms, and a huge local shopping centre.

This year we are sandwiched in the middle of a month of MG, Mini, and Classic Car Meet days so I am sure our meet will raise a lot of interest... esp with one or two brand new showroom XE's there, literally *just* delivered to Harwoods Brighton, hopefully in attendance on the day!!

We are already listed as an official event with Brighton & Hove, & East Sussex Councils - and I am working on trying to get further advertising and newspaper coverage in place if I can,,

The days itinerary is listed below for your info, so you know when you need to be where...
 

08:15 Meet at Pease Pottage Service Station at the base of the M23.

08:20 Initial 'Welcome to the Event' greeting, and packs handed out.

08:30 Depart in convoy for Brighton (cruising speed 65mph)

09:00 Park up in one large parking block in Madiera Drive.

09:00-10:00 Big Breakfast in 'The Madiera' (b/fast + drink for £4.99)

10:00 General social events etc. Plus your chance to be one of the first to book that Jaguar XE test drive! and to chat with the industry attendees about any car issues you may have.

11:30 Group signings of banner, and group photos for the forums

11:45 Prize Draw for the SNG Barrett Goodies, the numbers to be drawn by Tony

 

The parking is pay and display at this location and is £1 for an hour, £5 for two hours, £10 for four hours, or £15 for 11 hours (I would suggest for most people the £10 parking option will be sufficient). Your meal will be £4.99 per person.. so hopefully no shocks or surprises if you are on a budget

OK Guys,

I am constantly double checking on things in the hope that I have everything covered...

And I have an update regarding the breakfast deal - there are now two types of breakfast with different costings along with a reduced price for those of us with children.. this is the current deal:

Unlimited Cooked Breakfast £4.99 adults, £1.99 for under 12's
Unlimited Continental Breakfast £2.99 adults, £0.99 for under 12's

You get as many food 'refills' as you want and if you want to add a 4oz steak you can for £1.99

Drinks come in on top now at £2.25 unlimited for adults, or £0.99p unlimited for children

I am sorry it is more complicated, but for those with children it will definately prove cheaper, for everyone else a little more expensive but is indoors with wi-fi etc and the food etc is unlimited...

Full details of the breakfast deals will be in your welcome packs on the day.

The next Bi-Annual Brighton Convoy & Meet will be happening on 24th May 2015 - Just over SIX weeks away now! This meet will be our fourth one, and we will have been running this event for two years now!

This Spring/Summer event is Jaguar exclusive, but if you have a car of another marque don't worry - the Winter event will again be open to all marques with a warm Jaguar welcome for everyone.

For those who don't know, the event comprises of two components - an initial meet at Pease Pottage Services with Welcome packs and goodie bags handed out, and a convoy at a steady 65mph down to the main meet and event in Madiera Drive, Brighton. The distance is approx 24 miles on major roads which should ensure all attendees can manage it without issue.


At the main meet in Brighton we have breakfasts (from £2.99), photo shoots, socialising, industry attendees there to answer all those questions you have never managed to get answered, a FREE prize draw for some SNG Barrett goodies, and more - and all with the backdrop of the Victorian promenades, and everything a family could possibly want on a day out with the Pier, the beaches, the sea gently rolling in, the Proms, and a huge local shopping centre.


This year we are sandwiched in the middle of a month of MG, Mini, and Classic Car Meet days so I am sure our meet will raise a lot of interest... esp with one or two brand new showroom XE's there, literally *just* delivered to Harwoods Brighton, hopefully in attendance on the day!!


We are already listed as an official event with Brighton & Hove, & East Sussex Councils - and I am working on trying to get further advertising and newspaper coverage in place if I can,,

OK - a little bit of an update for you - this is the quiet patch before the last three weeks or so before the meet, which will be when I try hard to pull everything into place, confirmed and concreted for the day..

I have still had no feedback from the Highway Events Team at Brighton & Hove Council double confirming that we are OK for the location - I have recontacted them today to rechase for this, and will let you know as soon as I hear from them.

Everything *is* pretty much in the bag, I am just getting things double confirmed with our sponsors etc as we near the date... (yes I get twitchy every meet that something will go wrong lol)

We have almost hit that magic 50 vehicle figure which is fantastic, & I really appreciate everyones interest in this event, and coming along to help make the day great for everyone.

I would say realistically we are getting close to the limit of vehicles we can handle for this years  spring/summer event so if anyone is considering coming along but is still undecided please put your name forward shortly or you may get to miss this event and have to wait for the winter one :-)

Looking at the viewing figures for the master thread and the three mirror threads we have running for this event we have had a phenomenal 11,190 hits to-date!!

Nothing else to report I am afraid - for a few weeks anyway.. meanwhile please just keep an eye on this thread as anything in the way of confirmations, news, or updates will appear here as we go

OK just heard from Vanessa Weild in the Brighton & Hove Highway Events team - and she has double confirmed that Madiera Drive is available for us on the day - so that's one thing ticked, just need to work on the rest now :-)

OK I have run round our advertisers, freshening or bumping up our event advertising where I can (remembering we have no budget lol) and can confirm we are currently advertising our event with:

There are other locations that we have requested advertising but can't confirm they are or if they are actively advertising us..
