Upgraded Exhaust on XFR, anyone had experience?

As the title states, wondering if anyone's had experience with having an upgraded exhaust system fitted to an XFR?

I'm really not one for modifying cars but the reason I'm asking is because a friend of mine also has an XFR, however his is the Stratstone Le Mans Edition and it sounds slightly meatier than mine. Now, from my research of the Le Mans edition, the differences between that and a normal XFR were purely cosmetic, no engine or exhaust work was done. Just want to get a bit more sound from that supercharged V8 as its a little too muffled for my liking.

Thanks in advance!

Declan,

Haven't you got a "dynamic mode" setting or an active exhuast ? If not, take the fuse out, there is a link somewhere on the site that tells you how to do it, I think it's fuse 19 in the fuse box behind the back seat, but I can't remember right now.

Declan,

Yes it does, it means you have an active exhaust , when in dynamic mode it opens up some valves in the exhaust, which makes things a lot louder !, no need to take any fuses out.

The wife used to call it "anti social mode" .

Press "Dynamic mode" and all will sound fine.

Go and do it now young man !

My Mechanic who has serviced/repaired my cars for about 13 years likes the quietness of the 2.7 Twin Turbo diesel in my s type.  He saves the exhaust experience for his big motorbike.

On my 1962 Honda Dream which I bought when it was only a few months old, the very quiet exhaust had been replace by twin pipes which gave a great sound. A Sporty saloon needs a good sound now and then!

Peter,

I tend to agree, a lot is made about noise, and my last seven cars have been extremely noisy , which is ok now and then .

But what I liked about the XJ Supersport is that although it was 5 litre , supercharged , and 510 BHP, it also had double glazing. So inside you could hear a pin drop, which made the music wonderful !

But each to their own, and Declan is only a youngster and should be allowed to enjoy himself (and make us oldies jealous) !

He's probably giving it some "wellie" down the M4 in dynamic mode as we speak !

Declan,

I love speed, the older I get, the worse I get (I'm 65, and the longest haired pensioner in the South West !)

Cannot be doing with sluggish or dinky toy cars .

Will be able to test out the AMG in manic mode shortly on the A303 early morning when I go to Guildford to see some music .

When my XKR was in being fixed ,( it ended up stopping there because I couldn't bothered waiting a month for the part), I was lent a Vauxhall Insignia estate, and it was devils fuel!, the most shocking car I have ever driven . This wasn't the dealerships fault by the way, Jag breakdown didn't tell them I was coming, and they had to sort me something quick

ATB,

Trevor

Welcome to the Club, Graham.

Very fast car you have there.  I sometimes see one round here, although the sound is quite muted.

I hope you enjoy the club as well as you enjoy your car.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi,

Sorry for the late replys guys, I've been away for a while and been very busy with work.

Was just hoping someone on here has had experience with Spires exhaust systems? And if so what system did you go for?

Definitely going to get one on the XFR but there are a few different options, any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
