Cars Spotted

I was travelling to Brecon this afternoon on the A4059 between the village of Penderyn and the Cantref Reservoir and spotted some interesting cars. The 1st car was my all time favourite Porshe (and never seen one before) a 959, it was stunning in red. It was then followed by a Mk11 Jaguar also in Red with plenty of gleaning Chrome, this was then followed by you guessed it a bright red XJS Convertible followed again by a red E - Type. Things went down hill from here because the next car was a TVR Tuscan in British Racing Green.

This stretch of road is often used by car clubs and enthusiasts due to its bendy fast corners and long straights in fact Clarkson, Hammond and May often used it for filming seen them there often.

What I seen today must have been some kind of car club meet.

If anyone fancies a meet here then can arrange, I did it for the SL Club.

Richard, I have also spent some considerable time at Sennibrige, its not what it used to be mind you. The calibre I was using however would have been 7.62 in SLR''s, GPMG's and SMG obviously in military myself to have been able to get my hands to them

I was only using my lowly 308 same as 7.62 I have to say very tempted by a 50cal but only three places in the UK they can be used and sennibridye is the closest but still almost 3hours away so I think I will stick with my 308 for a bit longer lol

When is it Jim? I know Crief very well, worked up there for six months and passed the distillery every Monday and Friday (Way in and Way out) so to speak.

I think it may be a little to far for her indoors and I being a good six hour drive with an average speed exceeding points on your licence. Nice village though we worked in the Ardvark

Hi Ken & Peter,

I have just got back from the Brighton meet, it was a fantastic time had by all! Thought I would have seen you two there, where were you? The only down side was the price of the parking in Brighton, £10-40p for four hours!!!!!!!

Joan and I nipped over to see the "Battle of Britain" Memorial, I had always wanted to see that and it was well worth the visit! We were seventh to catch in a line of ten or so Jag's when a great old American car swerved to avoid cyclists and nearly took out the first four of us..! He then took a short de-tour up the side banking of the dual carriageway, when he came to a stop I have never seen anyone with eyes as wide as his (Except for the first four Jag drivers), and his wife was not very amused either!

There and back, 614 miles, ave 37.5 MPG, Not bad for the old bus..! It would be great if we could get a meet arranged here, say Brecon or Mumbles!

Regards to all.

Phill, Reverend. 0:-)

I have not had great success in arranging a Midlands meet, but a nice trip to the Brecon Beacons would sound nice to me. A couple of days out, nice place to be and many like minded people.

Anyone willing?

Peter.

I have been working away Phillip in Richmond upon Thames arriving home Friday evening at 18:30 therefore a trip to Brighton was the last of my thoughts being more than half way there all week. Must say I would very much like a meet to see the guys that are communicating very often through the forum. Two years ago I arranged a meet in Swansea for the Mercedes SL club. All arrived on the Friday evening and we stayed in the Village Hotel which you will know Phillip down by the Marina and we had dinner together. I planned a route drive for the Saturday taking in the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons stopping off in my local for a light lunch. We again all had dinner together in the Village Hotel at a decent rate on the Saturday evening and said our goodbye's on the Sunday morning. Everybody expressed how much they enjoyed themselves especially on the roads I took them on for which Clarkson and Hammond performed their Top Gear test drives. I would be more than happy to do exactly the same for the Jaguar owners club should the members want me to do so. Come on guys give me a list of names?

Hi Steve, I agree this type of thread is normally very popular on other forums. On Saturday I was out on the A4059 Richard Hammond's favourite road whilst testing on Top Gear my roof was down and I seen many sports cars, TVR's, Merc's (SL & SLK's), Porshe's and others but not 1 Jaguar except that of my brother's F Type who came for a blast with me. The sound on his car is awesome
