Fuses

I have managed to blow the cigar lighter fuse.  I looked in the handbook I bought for the car, but the fuses that cover the lighter socket and the power socket are not as shown in the book.  So I phoned our local Jaguar dealer (Stratstone) who advised me the fuse was in the front power module.  It wasn't, so unless someone else can help, I will have to pull every fuse out to find which one(s) have blown.  Is there anyone out there who could advise where the fuse is?  Do you need the chassis number?

In the owners handbook it says that the cigar lighter fuse is in the luggage compartment fusebox, as it the power source in the centre console:-

 

Cigar Lighter:  F56

Power Source: F58

 

Both are 15 amp.

Thank you Peter, that was the first place I looked, but both F56 and F58 slots are empty, and before you ask, yes the cigar lighter socket was working on my sat nav until I plugged in my old Porsche electric tyre pump.  Stripping down the plug showed both wires had frayed, and touched, thus shorting the fuse.

That's a bit curious, but I think it might be worth putting fuses in the empty spaces.

Witch Craft, I would agree with Peter and place a fuse in each of the empty slots however on a smaller value i.e. if 15A is supposed to be the nominal fuse try a 6A and test with something that would be regarded as safe to use within that circuit

I got onto an American web site, and looked at the 2002 fuses, and found the fuse shown as F33 in the footwell fuse box.  Having wriggled around I managed to get this fuse out, it was blown, so it was replaced and the cigar lighter now works.  How have I got a 2002 wiring loom and fuse location in a 2004 car?

That is one of the mysteries of the production line, John.

 

An uncle of mine worked at Ford in Halewood, and on one occasion we both had the same model of Ford Escort, the 1.3L.  However, his 1.3L had a 1.6 engine, the same seats as a Ghia , with a fitted radio and very posh carpets.

 

I guess that when the car was being built a stray wiring loom found a place close to the production line and curiously got fitted to your car, and the chap on the line got rid of the one that should have got on to your car.  Another curious coincidence could have been that his car was in need of a new wiring loom.

 

Smacks a bit of the '57 Chevrolet.
