It does now! thanks. The phone is fully working. Now what I'd really like to do is play my tuneIn radio app through the speakers, or just music from my phone. Any help appreciated.

I looked into this some time ago.... what i found is you needed the aux cable to fit the older ipod aux socket in centre console then you need an Apple 30 pin to lightning adapter but from memory it wouldnt charge if done like this but dont know for sure as i thought it wasnt worth the hassle but then i only ever listen to the radio when in the car to the point that i have had the car for over a year and only 2 weeks ago i tried a cd in it

so for me wasnt worth it

I decided to go the ACM route so that everything would be integrated.

My ACM took 40 minutes to install and has worked faultlessly with my iPod Classic (80GB). CDC is also still available at the flick of a switch on the ACM.

Give me a shout if you want any more info :)

Very kind thanks.

I don't have an iPod, happy with CD's really, the main thing I miss is MW radio R5, talksport etc. I have music on my iPhone 6 which I'd like to play through car system but not essential.

  • 1 month later...

Sorry for the somewhat abbreviated post yesterday Kim, but I was using my phone and the size of my finger tips is such that typed communication is a bit of a hit and miss affair. :)

The Jaguar implementation of iPod audio integration is called the Audio Connectivity Module (ACM), and fits in the centre console cubby hole on the S Type (and X Type as well).

It requires the CD changer (CDC) to be fitted and functioning before it will work.

Once fitted it provides an integrated link with all the other D2B networked items, ie. Jaguar Voice, bluetooth Phone, Sat-Nav, audio, Touchscreen etc. You can connect an iPod or a USB stick or an audio item which uses standard phono type connectors.

It provides reliable, if somewhat rudimentary control of the iPod from the touchscreen but the latest version of the firmware also allows for control of the iPod directly, even when connected to the ACM.

Although it uses the CDC link to the system, the CDC is still available if required.

It costs an arm and a leg but, in my view, there isn't yet a viable alternative. I've tried the FM link devices but have never been satisfied with the sound quality.

Also, for me, the tight integration with the rest of the Jaguar system makes it worth considering.

Very easy to fit. Takes about 30 minutes, depending on how easy you find it to thread three wires through the centre console to the back of the head unit :)

I hope that puts a little meat on the bare bones of my previous post :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Having read this topic before I changed my 'phone from a Samsumg to an iPhone6 [Virgin Media]  I wondered if I would have any trouble.

When I got the 'phone on Thursday I found that the sim card was not only keeping my number as requested but it appeared that they had also "unpaired" my old 'phone from the car.  It took less than two minutes to pair my iPhone!

Peter.

My wife's iPhone 6 goes perfectly with the XF but my iPhone 5, although seen by bluetooth will only give the first ring and then no sound at all for conversation.

Only way I can use myne in the car is to turn off bluetooth on the phone and stop then talk using the phone only. annoying.
