Welcome to the Club, Gary.

There are a few places on the IOM that can test your car, and I bet you will enjoy doing it.

The first time I went to the IOM was on holiday in 1938!  Not many cars around then.

I have also been there when there were a lot of Motor Cycles, and a guy named Jeff Duke riding one of them.

Great place to show off your car.  And I think that there is another member on the Island.

Regards,

Peter,

No plans I don't think to mod, I cannot think of anything that will make it better than it is. (I would like to remap but my darling wife will no doubt disagree lol)

One thing I will buy is the rubber boot liner thats a must...

Nor I,  --   I am in charge of all the important decisions.  I am head of engineering, horticulture,  & plumbing.  I determine the economic structure of the Country, make all the political decisions, choose all food menus,  and then leave all the mundane things such as paying for everything, except for all matters appertaining to motor vehicles, managing the household, etc.

I have a very easy life of which SWMBO is in charge.  Curiously, when I did represent people in Court, I was known as Rumpole.

I don't think you have been to the Island, we may not have motorways but a blast over the mountain is awesome :scooter:

Photographs will be coming when I have put the new reg on her (and it stops raining)

I have been on the Island on quite a few occasions, and even walked to the top of Snaefell a few times.

But I have never taken a car over, although my Honda did like the mountain roads, but thought them a bit tame after the passes in the Lake District, the Winnats and the Cat and Fiddle in Derbyshire, as well as the Horseshoe  Pass near Llangollen.

Hi Gary,

I had a Honda 250 Dream -  but a bit unique as it was one of the first  6 Honda Dreams [250c to come into the UK.  I was "breathed on" by Bill Smith who won a couple of TTs, and was faster than a few 500cc motor bikes, and could touch 115 mph.  It was quicker than my Triumph T100 which could reach a touch over 100 mph.

Joking a bit about the IOM mountains   --   I would love to take my S Type [208 bhp] over them. The big diesel loves the hills, and proved it last weekend in the Lake District.  The only problem I have is that my wife thinks that at 81 I am too old for speed!

Regards,

Peter.

Its taking longer than I expected getting my car changed over to Manx registration.  When I bought it I only took the green slip part from the V5, our vehicle licence office will not register it until I get the export part, which the original owner says he has already binned.  So now I have to apply to the UK DVLA which I am told will be like pulling teeth lol

Hi Gary,

A 'phone call to the DVLA and a nice chat with the person on the other end of the 'phone often works wonders  I have found the DVLA very receptive.

I recently had to 'phone HMRC - The Tax Office - and  the young lady, working in Liverpool but origination from South Wales, seemed to perk up a bit when I spoke about the many friends I had in Port Talbot, Llanwern etc.

I got my Code change the next morning, as did my former employer who administers my pension - just a day before the end of the tax year.

Worth a try.

Regards,

Peter.

Great photo's, Gary and a lovely looking XF, you must be really pleased.

I am just waiting for some decent weather to go up into Snowdonia and get some scenic shots of mine.

Happy motoring !

Andrew
