Thanks for the welcome.

No plans ( at present ) to change or do anything in the modification department ( but that itself could change ).

Only had my vehicle nearly a month now and at present well happy with the looks and performance ! Time will tell. :yahoo:

Only dislike so far is "The puncture repair kit" instead of a "Space Saver"

Hi Frank, and welcome to the club.

You have a great car - and one of the last Sportbrakes, as Jaguar have now discontinued it. Pity!

Personally I believe that the Jaguar design team do a very good job and the XFR-S doesn't need anything doing to it.

You have a very genuine dislike of the puncture repair kit.  I also dislike the "Space Saver" and the first owner [there have only been two] of my S Type specified a conventional spare wheel which sits neatly in the space destined for a spare wheel.  The best modification you can do is invest in one.

I will look out for you in the West Midlands - I live in Sutton Coldfield.

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks for the welcome.

I've ordered a space saver + all the necessary from Listers in Shirley, should collect it tomorrow. ( For peace of mind ) There's no room for a full size spare wheel in mine, only just enough depth for a space saver I think, but thanks for the advice.

My vehicle has different size wheels ( width ) so weather that's the reason the car came without a space saver I know not ( Jaguar owned vehicle so assume it wasn't the price of ! )

yeah, give us a toot !!!

Will do Frank.

I got my s type from Stratstone [now Listers] in Solihull.  Also Jaguar owned! for a time.

In the last 20 years I think I have only had one puncture, but peace of mind is more important when you get a bit older!

Regards,

Peter.

Not unlike yourself, it's been loads of years ( hope we haven't spoke to soon ) since a puncture. Altho' I've Jaguar Roadside Assistance ( however long they take to appear I know not ) I didn't like the idea of being stranded by the roadside for the sake of being spacesaver-less !

Space saver and all the necessary is on its way as we speak ( collecting tomorrow)

The space saver wheels used are the same as a saloon..+ the same for both -19 & 20" whether the rear road wheels are wider or not 1 size supplied fits all, So easy to find on somewhere like eBay. All associated fittings are in a different location. The spare wheel in the sportbrake sits facing up and in the saloon facing down with the tools on top...The sportbrake  tools are located under the wheel by the side of the batteries. If yours is without ? you will also need the tray that sits on top of the space saver as this prevents the load space floor from bowing if carrying a heavy load. Its worth purchasing an after market wheel wrench as the ones Jaguar supply are rubbish. Plus I keep a carpet square sample in the back as its a hands on knees job to locate the jacking point.

I myself have been looking for a XF RS sportbrake as suffering from withdrawal since selling my Subaru. Plus I think the neighbours are missing there 400+bhp morning wake up alarm. I'm still undecided between a XF RS or a RS 6 Avant as some 4 wheel drive capability is an advantage where I live. Plus the Audi has cheaper tuning options..Decisions Decisions!

Paul,

Thank you for the photo of the space saver / Tool kit in the Sportbrake.

The Space saver I've ordered is 19" ( Jaguar claim the 18" won't fit over the bigger calipers fitted to my R S model, so I'm told ) and all the necessary ( don't really know what the necessary consists of until I collect it, Saturday now )

re torn between an A6 and an RS ?  Drive an RS, :yahoo: I've come from a 5.0 supercharged Range Rover ( too many problems with it  :wallbash:) I'm loving every minute so far, You won't be disappointed i guarantee it !!!

Hi Frank,

I was the victim of a large pointed piece of stone on the road to Lindisfarne, and I couldn't get the wheel off my Rover Sterling.

My first purchase, after a new tyre, was a proper wheel wrench!

Now Saturday? Did they say which month:yawn: Typical of ordering parts from Jaguar. I think all there dealer store rooms must be broom cupboard size.

Re:  XFR-S Conservative here and would have to be Stratus Grey and seen every colour but!..Cops around here are to inquisitive if stand out from the norm. Had a near same blue V40 or was it a 70? Volvo all look the same to me lol.  Pole Star estate as courtesy car..Within 35 mile got pulled over:sweatdrop: apparently they were about to get a white one and wanted to check it out:megangry:

Hi Paul,

I had a company car Ford Escort Mk1 in metallic leaf green Reg 000459K.  My cleave in the same office had the exact same model and the exact same colour with the Reg 000458K.  I was just driving out of a car park in central Sheffield when I was pulled over by the Police. They told me that they had just seen me going onto the M1 in the opposite direction , and had noted the unusual number. It took some time to convince them that they were two different cars.  It is a good job they didn't see my other colleague as he also had a similar model and colour Reg 000456K.  Our employer has in their wisdom [or otherwise] determined we should have the same model, the same colour from the same dealer somewhere in Chelmsford.

Went to collect my spacesaver and  all the necessary from Listers in shirley to be told " They hadn't been ordered" hence the delay.

so my first Jaguar experience with Jaguar has been a disappointed one !

There's a stratus grey RS for sale where I bought mine, HA Fox Nottingham !

Hi Frank,

I get the few I have needed parts from the David Manners Group in Halesowen.  I can ring them up, tell them what I want and they will tell me that they are either in stock or tell me they will ring me when they are  -  usually a couple of days.

All genuine Jaguar parts  -  they have a great online catalogue and most small parts are usually in stock.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Frank,

When I was gainfully employed we had our cars serviced by Colliers  ---  quite good, but still expensive. They are franchised dealers rather than Main dealers. WE found them better than Stratstone -  now Listers.

Since 2002 I have used a mobile mechanic [trained by Rover and who worked for colliers]who has done a great job for me and is a third of the price.

I'm surprised there isn't a "Jaguar Birmingham" for the servicing.

I think its psychological on my part but I always have my vehicles serviced main agent ( i think it helps when i come to offload my cars to the next owner. i would certainly only buy a car myself that's been "Main Agent'd" but that's just me )

I appreciate what you'r saying re independent servicing and can't fault those who use them, but sadly not for me. ( I've still got 2 yrs warranty to run ) and so to eliminate any "Argy Bargy" with who's done what and where.

I had a bad experience with stratstone Land Rover stourbridge ( But that's another story )

Hi Frank,

I would be inclined to do the same, in fact I did when I had a Rover Sterling while it was under warranty.  My s type was also main agent serviced also.  I have only bought cars from main agents, two of them from Colliers.

There was a Stratstone Jaguar Main Jaguar dealer in Birmingham in Bromford Lane.  It still might be there under "Listers" who took it over. But not too salubrious an area.

Colliers in Tamworth will give you a courtesy car, I should think, and I got my first Jaguar from them, and would have got another but they had nothing in that I could either afford or wanted.  They are pretty good, too.  I would sound them out.

I think you could probably get a courtesy car,  but if you can't there are a few places close where you can get a half decent lunch, and quite a few stores to meander round - John Lewis, Marks and Spencer.

Regards,

Peter.

where ever I decide to have the next service it will be booked well in advance ( couple of months in fact ) to assure I get a courtesy car ( my services will be based on the yearly basis as I won't cover the mileage,

but again thanks for the advice

Thanks it might be worth a look? Its still at a full retail pre16 price. At least it has a space saver spare included:thumbup: Only thing of  concern is the mileage being at 17,500  and the next would be a major service + brake fluid renewing in July which is likely to be expensive as your paying for someone else having the benefit of putting the miles on without paying! And leaving the next owner to pick up the bill. Its a wonder of the universe that the car will sail through Jaguars pre sales check but in 3 months time all the brakes will be shot! Unless it sets a new world record of ome brakes on a RS lasting more then 20k...You should have negotiated with FOX on the price of a wheel or better still FOC to have one included? As I think your pockets are about to be emptied by a further £500!

£500, I wish !!!

Went to collect my spacesaver today, oh dear again !!!

Dealer offered to fit it for me, then found i've a sub in the boot floor so i need a host of other things for the wheel to sit on and above, besides the jack toolkit polystyrene holder. ( I did supply my Vin Number to identify my vehicle but alas eh !!!):ranting:

The saga continues ! Saturday is the next instalment.:nopity:

When i came out of the dealership my vehicle was surrounded by dealership mechanics (   Sorry i meant Technicians ) They said they hadn't seen one of these before !!!

Peter / Jim

Everythings crossed !

I've doubts about it being concluded on Saturday.

i will post the total cost ( again I've told them I want everything, as it would have been if it had come from factory fitted, we'll see eh )

Thanks for your interest.
