I have these on mine but look at the state they are in! :-S

Found a place locally to do full chemical strip, recon and baked powder coating re-finish though.  £68 a corner.  They need the car for a few days to do it though as I don't have a spare set of wheels.

Hi Adam,

My wheels are not as bad as that, but still need doing.

There is a relatively local company that I will try and hope that he can do it in a day.  He is quite near the Cross City [Birmingham] railway station in Lichfield just 5 stops from where we live.

Peter.

I will definitely give an update after my next long journey (Sunday), I would have thought that with my engine being worn more (184,000 mileage) the mpg would be worse.................update to come

Hi Guys

After my 'long journey' today the best mileage shown was 51.9 mpg on the way to Gatwick and at the end of the journey (both ways,166 miles) it was showing 45.1 mpg - this was achieved with 3 adults and four suitcases in the car, for most of the journey cruise control was set 75 mph (see  attached photo) - quite pleased really!

Hi David. I should of taken some more pictures because i don't collect it until saturday but I've found a pdf of the s-type brochure online. I'm thinking it's "lunar grey". I think the only thing I'll be adding will be a phone mount!Screenshot_2016-06-12-00-22-55.png

Hmm...can't decide from that colour chart whether mine is BRG or Emerald Fire.  I always assumed BRG but now I'm not so sure.

Hi Guys

  • Hope this helps, the best way to check your paint colour is to look on the Vehicle ID Plate, usually inside the bonnet or door shut, it will give you a three letter code defining your colour (I'm sure that you all know that, so the discussed codes are below)
  • British Racing Green - Code = HGD (from 1997 onwards)
  • Emerald Fire - Code = HHP (2008 + 2009 only)
  • Indigo Blue - Code = JJX
  • Ultraviolet is not listed as a S-Type colour
  • Lunar Grey - Code = LJZ (if it helps my XF is Lunar Grey)

So my car's paint code is HGZ.  A quick google seems to imply that is Racing Green, not BRG.  Oh well, two thirds of the way to BRG..lol :-)

Hi Adam, HGZ is listed as Jaguar Racing Green Pearl (Metallic) used from 2002.

Ultraviolet is definitely on that list! As said previously it is best to get the code from the plate to be sure, I have Ultraviolet Pearl (Metallic) Code JJF listed from 2004 onwards.

Yup.  Oh well.  I am happy with the colour even if it isn't official BRG

I bought a 2.7 deisel on an 04 Plate, 3yrs ago. Over the first year I spent almost as much on repairs as I did on the purchase!

However, since then (last two years) the car has been faultless, returns 38+ mpg combined, and is a joy to drive.

My first Jaguar was one of the original Mk 2s ~I'm in my 70s ~ and I always promised myself to buy another when I retired.

My advice to anyone looking to buy an S type: have deep pockets, buy the best model you can afford, put right anything that needs fixing, regular maintenance and enjoy.

Hi guys

One thing that I would suggest on the 2.7 diesel is an ecu re-map. I had mine done and the results are astonishing with better mpg, more bhp (207 up to 254) far better pedal response and torque in abundance.

My car feels so much more "alive"

£300 well spent.

Ha..you beat me to it Paul.  That was my next question exactly.  :-)

Me too Paul as it's really important that you do tell your insurance company, so many don't and end up uninsured!
