S type sat nav

Gents,

Have a really irritating problem with the sat nav not accepting post codes. The disc is a 2010/ 2011disc on a 2004.

No matter how I input the post code it says not recognised! I'm sure I can't be the first to have this issue and I'm hoping it's something silly that I've missed or not noticed.

any help greatly appreciated

Steve, it is possible that the system has defaulted to Belgium as Peter says. This sometimes happens if there has been a momentary power down. Tapping on the UK will fix that.

If that doesn't work, take the disk out, with the ignition on. Then switch off the ignition. Wait for a few seconds and switch on again. When the touchscreen tells you "No Disk", insert the disk and leave the car with the ignition on, maybe helpful to have the engine running, as it can then take upwards of twenty minutes for the system to reset. From experience i'd say more likely to be five minutes though.

I had the same problem not long ago, and yes it changed it's self to Belgium.

Can't work out why then the car was built in the UK, you would think the uk would be default!

I think that might be because the parent disk from which all these copies were made might have been initially setup for Belgium maybe?

Where can you buy updated discs and what's the price?

Hi Keith,

I also have the 2007 s type and replaced the 2006 disc with the last one for the s type --  2011/12 version.

I just googled "Sat Nav Disc" and found several places where you can get them with the cost around £25.

You could try "The SatNavshop" also.

Regards,

Peter.

I have a 1999 with an early factory sat nav that takes CDs rather than DVDs.

I have the CD for the UK but as I live in Spain I would like one that I can use. I realise that it would be very out of date and that I can buy a Chines Sat Nav that works for less than the cost of the CD but I would just like to see it working. Any suggestions?

Hmmm... I would be careful about cheap discs. I followed some threads on this a year ago and decided to buy the latest version off the net to replace my original 2003. Whilst it loaded OK, it was exactly the same map as the 2003 i.e. still doesn't recognise streets built more than 10 years ago. I should have moaned at them but it was only £20 or so.

It is always worth checking out the seller of any item.  I did so.

I was told by the salesman when I bought my car that the discs supplied by Jaguar cost over £160, and it would be worth seeing what you could get on the open market.

I got a genuine Denso disc for £29 and I have never had a problem

  • 7 months later...

Just a thought,I was ages trying to get satnav in my SType to accept postcodes until I realised that I had to put a space between the first and second parts of the postcode.

With my old TomTom I'd enter the postcode straight through without a space so assumed the SType one was the same!

Peter,

This piece of advice has very likely saved me time and angst! I read this before I decided to programme the sat nav yesterday. When I deleted all the saved destinations, home, and memory points and rolled it back to factory settings, I found myself in Belgium! No panic, I simply selected the U.K. and continued without missing a beat. Many thanks! Gary
