My New Jag

Hi Everyone,

Picked up the new Jag a couple of weekends ago, 2008 2.2 sovereign estate, what an improvement over my old Sport, handles just as well but far smoother and quieter with a more executive feel and look (Love the walnut panels).

So just to prove life is a !Removed!, I had only had it for 5 days and was leaving work when a young lady in a Qashqai , apparently incapable of looking where she was going drove straight out from a line of parked cars in the car park and into the offside front wing, damage is wing and bumper (See Pic) what a bummer.

Still should be sortable just hope I can convince insurance that it is her liability, am concerned that they will try the old 50 / 50 trick on me.

will let you know

Hi Paul.

Sorry to hear about your x Type getting hit, the young ones don't seem to care these days if they're not on there phone they're rushing from a to b and not interested in what's going on in there vicinity.Hope everything works out for you and by the way Welcome to the Club.

Regards Tom.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the welcome, you are right a lot of the young drivers are way too easily distracted, I blame the IT revolution for the poor attention span.

I am hoping that she admits fault and that the insurance company sees sense.

Other than thatall is pretty good, I like the executive feel and got around 45 mpg on a quick trip up to Yorkshire at the weekend although I am going to have to have a word with the garage as the engine cover is rattling abut as they have managed to break one of the mounts off and the air inlet hoses on the air box have come adrift, looks like they may have got the apprentice to do some of the work bur never mind I am sure it is all sortable ay.

Cheers

Riggs

Hi Paul.

You didn't say what gearbox you have (auto or manual) i have the 6 speed Auto Sovereign and really like it,the most important thing is regular servicing and only use Genuine Jaguar diesel & Oil filters as some members have had problems with aftermarket filters.

Regards Tom.

Hi Tom,

It's a 6 speed manual, had the dealer do a major service before I picked it up so am guessing the the inlet hoses were not refitted properly, going back next week to be sorted.

Will be doing my own servicing from now on so am sure that I will have some questions.

Cheers

Riggs

That's seriously bad luck Paul, I do hope liability is satisfactorily directed.  Of course if you were stationary then there can be no argument.  Cars are getting bigger and bigger, especially the 4x4's, and young/new drivers naturally have increasing difficulty judging length and width - which tends to come with driving experience.  Perhaps the inexperienced should not be allowed to drive the bigger cars.  Mind you, even the new 'Mini' is getting larger than the average car was 10 years ago!?

Best of luck with the claim, Rowley
