Terraclean?

Hi everyone,

anyone got experience with using terraclean on an xtype (or any other diesel engines?) I'm driving a 2.2 auto d which has clocked 115k - still averages 45 mpg so no concerns, but around £150 for keeping longevity and smooth running seems worth it - provided it works...! would be glad to hear any others' experiences using this method.

Cheers

nathan

Hi Liam,

I had my s.7 Diesel s type terra cleaned about 2 years ago, and I must say it made a real difference both to performance and to economy.  Additives are useful and I do use them occasionally --  Wynns diesel cleaner & Diesel Magic are bot good.  But I and others have found that a terraclean is worth the money.

A neighbour had an issue with his 2.2Diesel x type --  the car would not start when hot, and a dealer quoted £1200 to replace the injectors and glow plugs  --  a teraclean service was done and the engine is still performing well.

But do try the occasional additive  ---  and always use Premium Fuel.

Regards,

Peter.

liam,  good luck with the additive. log onto the forum ( Jaguar x type) then find in the previous posts,    2.0d egr valve before and after.   i use an additive but i still had to clean the valve. mine runs ace, fantastic, great, pulls like a train. also change air filter too and clean all air sensors. my additive is ( BG44K) AGAIN GOOD LUCK.    dave

I was going to have my 3.0 X - type done and was looking for a price ages ago . . A standard car up to 2.0 was £150 and for mine was something daft like £250+. Just been looking on the net and prices seem to be a lot cheaper now . Just found this = We Randstad are the importers of TerraClean . We set Recommended Retail Prices. Vehicles up to 2.0L engine size £ 108.00 vehicles above 2.0L engine size £ 126.00. Larger engined vehicles including Trucks and Buses will cost more.

Peter.

Hi Peter , this was a place in Louth about 15 miles away from me . They were quoting prices to people on Facebook and anything over a 2.0L was a ridiculous price . This was a while back and prices may have changed . I will have to have a search to see if anyone else is doing it locally .

Regards ,

Andy.

Hi everyone, earlier this week I had to drive to Cardiff for three days (about 275 miles each way) and finding myself with a few hours to spare I thought I'd go for the terraclean as the guy could fit me in at short notice. It has made a noticeable difference - crisper ride, no labouring in low gear, quicker acceleration, more torque - just generally sharper all round. Since I owned the car mpg has been 45 in all driving conditions, but the latest ride has gone above 50 which I had never achieved even on a straight motorway run. So not exactly a lottery winning difference but satisfying nonetheless.

I paid £106 including vat on the 2.2 auto X type. I was pleased the guy asked for some background and any concerns or niggles on the car, and gave it a quick spin and a few revs, and checked under the bonnet before doing the clean - as he said any potential problems would be magnified by the clean and if I had any major concerns I shouldn't go ahead. As the car has always been faultless but just looking for longevity and smooth running, he said it would be fine - afterwards he told me that anyone who has ever had the service done by him has always been pleased with it, but he doesn't give customers the hard sell upfront. So that was a refreshing approach from a garage...!

He also said additives were fine but not worth using now for a good while now I've done the terraclean. However he was adamant on using shell/esso/bp brand fuel, even if not premium.

So to anyone in the Cardiff area I can recommend Autocraft Cardiff Ltd. Great service and price and above all very down to earth.

Regards to all,

Nathan

Thanks for this Dave. I'm not up to much car diy but are these filters/sensors something that should be changed under servicing? - or that I can request? I use a jag independent specialist not main dealer.

hi nathan, now that you have had the terraclean, and the car runs well  :-)     i would leave well alone, as anything would have been picked up before the terraclean.  just enjoy your driving experience. dave....
