Unusual start to being a Jaguar Owner

Hi to one and all,  I thought I would join the site after using it for reference and finding a wealth of information extremely useful in the run up to becoming an owner.

Last night I become an owner for the 1st time (I don't include the time I bought a Jaguar Daimler 5.3L off eBay whilst drunk and watching Minder).  Anyhow, my unusual start to being an owner, my wife and I travelled from Cheshire down to Walsall after seeing an XF Supreme Luxury on an 09 plate but it had only done 29k miles and had full service history and all previous MOT's and service receipts.  We won the auction and duly paid our money incl buying fees so were given all the paperwork, spare key etc etc and told to wait over there for the car to be brought to us.  In the 200-300m distance from compound to pick up point the idiot driver crashed the car!!!!!   Fist sized indent in the bonnet and scuff marks on the bumper.

I am still in negotiations with BCA but needless to say their offer to cancel the sale was declined as the chances of picking up an XF in the same price bracket with 29K miles would be a long shot.  So although not yet parked on my drive I thought i would say hello and I look forward to using the site for info and advice as and when I eventually get the car.

Thank you Malc,  from our latest correspondence they have agreed that it will be repaired by a Jaguar approved garage who have stated it requires a new bonnet, new xenon light cluster and the bumper is to be repaired.  Hire car supplied until the repair is completed so to be fair to BCA, idiotic driver aside, they have been very good up to now.

Looking forward to getting our hands on it.  Although it'll be strange after 5 years driving of an Audi TT.

Hi there again Andy,

Thats great news, will you be planning on posting any pictures once the work is done ( maybe some before work is done?? ) Those light clusters ain't cheap, I'm led to believe

Anyway, congratulations on your purchase, I so hope you enjoy, when you do get her back, and, if you do upload any photo's, I can't wait to see them :w00t::w00t:

Very Best Wishes, Malc W ( Phosphor Blue )

Welcome to the Club, Andy.

Some lousy drivers in Walsall!

Stories like that are unique,  but you were right in getting the car repaired to your satisfaction, as you don't get bargains like that too often.

Regards,

Peter

Hi Andy,

that`s tough when you find your dream car and some idiot bends it! Glad its getting sorted out though.

I too, was looking on the BCA website waiting for my perfect car to pop up, it certainly seems a good way to get a better car for your money, even after the buyers fee. You do need to be prepared to travel though, the right car can present itself any where from Surrey to Scotland! I think the right spec/colour/year/mileage/trim/price is definately worth chasing, You can`t expect it to fall into your lap.

I was very lucky, I managed to buy my XFS privately and got a fantastic deal, right place/time etc.

I assume you have the car by now, I bet you are loving it!

Chris
