S Type 2001 issues

Featured Replies

Hello all, I was wondering if someone could help me. I am not exactly car savvy, so please bear with me.

I have an S Type 2001 3.0 v6 and a few issues. Firstly the easiest one, im out of orange coolant, but struggling to find a shop in my town that does it, Halfords do not anymore. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Secondly I have the engine light on, which when run through diagnostics it says bank too lean, and can hear some hissing like air or something when bonnet is up. Is this is what also is stopping my heating working, as the air con is fine, but no heating is present.

And finally, the DSC system fault is on, with the tyre light on the dash. Are these relatively cheap repairs or is it going to cost a small fortune.

Thank you in advance

Hi Carl,

Mine is in at the moment, find a garage you can trust (NOT A DEALERSHIP), put her in for the winter check. Mine is in for change of coolant, filters and oil. MOT and of course the usual LAM Sensor (Showing the same as yours). Total £325, so not bad. If you are near Swansea I recommend 'BOND' as they do all the work on my three cars.

Hope this is helpful,

Thank you my friend, spoke to my neighbour who is a mechanic, he will give it a once over, he charges me £30 an hour I presume cash in back pocket so im not complaining. Got the coolant, one garage in my town has it so that's fine. He said he cant diagnose obviously until he looks at it, said could be air issue, or heater matrix, either way for 30 an hour im happy
