hi

still might be battery, weather getting colder and the glow plugs will be staying on longer and will be sucking that battery down

I'd be tempted to charge the battery overnight and check the voltage across the battery with the engine running, should be above 14 volts, when running, just incase the alternator is on its way

if you charge and its runs great for a few day, I'd replace the battery

cheers

joe

Hi joe thanks for that i understand what you are saying where i bought the battery from who is a battery specialist charged the battery overnight for me

The problem is that i cannot get the engine to turn over ignotion comes on but when i turn the key nothing happens the starter motor relay is working i can feel it clicking

hi

that sounds like starter motor

if you have a manual car you could try putting it in gear and rocking the car

the starter is a pre engaged type so the solenoid on the starter engages, In then mover the starter gear into the flywheel, when the gear is engaged the starter spins by a contact that is made, when the gear has has full travel

by rocking the car in gear, it will move the flywheel slightly and if it the starter not engaging right, it might cure the problem

cheers

joe

Welcome to the club, Richard.

Like Joe, I first thought the battery was on the way out, and if the car won't turn over but the starter motor just clicks, it is certainly the motor not responding.  Joe has given you the answer.

The Austin/Morris mini had the same problem, and the starter motor usually needed a little tap with a hammer to make it work.

Regards,

Peter.

Update 3rd November

hi all thought i would do an update of what i did to cure the above problem the abs module connector plug upon checking had lost the battery live to pin num 2 on the plug

so off came the front bumper and headlight removed i stripped the tape from the harness and found the broken wire i rejoined and soldered the wire cleared the dtcs the car is now running perfect
