Evening all,

Wondering if anyone might have some other ideas as to the issue I'm having with glow plug light popping up and cutting the engine on my jag 2.2d,

At the start when it would just light the glow plug light on dash it would cut the engine and when I started the car it fired straight away and was fine but would do it whenever it was put under abit of throttle over 2k or 55-60mph

I've had my mate who owns a garage take it on, originally it popped a few hoses included the boost hose, he fitted a new one and the problem subsided but it started again, so off it went to him, he took it to a specialist and they looked it over and on diagnosis they found that the Pump had pretty much destroyed itself and metal in the injectors, they have changed everything from - Fuel Pump, Fuel Rail, Injectors, updated the software on the car as it was running a old version,

They delivered it back to my mates garage and said it was all running however the fault still is happening, I'm just wondering if anyone could suggest anything else. They put the fault reader on it and it comes up with a generic fuelling fault still,

My friend has suggested maybe mapping it to get round the problem.

Thanks in advance

I had the same problem with mine a few months ago but i had mine hooked up to a delphi machine which come up with P0088 Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too High i changed the regulator on the pump which solved it! but i'm guessing your new pump come a with a new regulator, so maybe try replacing the pressure sensor on the rail as they also cause this fault too.

With the codes you are getting I suspect it isn't sticking turbo vanes but it would be worth carefully disconnecting the vane actuator arm and move the arm back and forth to check that it moves smoothly and freely. For details see my earlier post -  'Sticking Turbo Vanes' in the Guides and Reviews section of this forum.

Please disregard if you have already checked this out.

Best wishes, David

hi there,

I am having the exact same issue as described, in general the car (x-type 2.0d 53plate) drives lovely upto around 35mph then as soon as it comes to accelerating past this getting upto 50-60mph the glow plug light flashes sometimes accompanied by the engine management light and a low pitched rumbling sound, as soon as i stop and start the car again the glowplug light is gone and usually engine management light is gone by the next day. did you manage to rectify the problem
