Experiencing the legendary Grace and Pace - But in "heat".

Recommended Posts

Hi, My name is Dominic, and we live in Dorset. Delighted to have discovered the Owners Club - simply could not get to "post" any detail at all until now. My Jaguar ownership history sadly is not large - I have owned 78 different cars over the years, including a variety of MGB GT's, what has always been rare - a Triumph  TR5 (2500i) 1969 Surrey top , an SP2 Brazilian "Porsche" (by VW) and a   289 cu inch Mustang convertible 1967.  Having sold my E- Type 4.2, 1968 Mk 1 1/2 fixed head coupe many years ago, for the paltry sum of £1k (indicates possibly, just how long ago - to an Australian - I trust it is still revered down under.

My current delight is an S - Type SE Auto-  December 2003. 60k miles, 2 owners and serviced by Jaguar, every 3k miles since new. The decision to buy, if one was needed, after the detail of the car was of course the colour: Seafrost, particularly complimentary and attractive to the shape, in my view.  I wonder if members might be able to help me with one problem. My garage tells me that the a/c despite intensive and comprehensive work by them now requires a "heat blender motor" - which astonishingly is unavailable in the UK. They have place an order on the Global Parts Jaguar List yet 5 weeks later, I remian denied the benefit of aircon !! Would Members recommend I seek an alternative source........or indeed know of a reliable "original part" supply source. I would be extremely grateful for guidance on this very vexing issue.   Thank you,

Dominic

Welcome home to the club, Dominic.

The avenue you could try is the second hand market and you could be lucky.  Denis [the JagMan] in the club who takes Jaguars apart for a hobby might have what you need.

On the other hand, I was at a genuine Jaguar Parts supplier who might be able to help. If you try the David Manners Group --  they have a very good website -- they might have one or know where they can get one.  Their 'phone number is 0121 544 4040, and they are very helpful.

I will continue to see if there is that part somewhere.

Meanwhile, enjoy your s type - a great car and in my opinion, a future classic.  Morgana will be visiting the beautiful County of Dorset in September for our annual holiday in the south.

Regards,

Peter.

Just an addition: it appears that the part you could be looking for is the motor that opens and closes the door of the Heat Blender part of the air con.  Bearing in mind the Jaguar was owned by Ford when you car was made it is possible that the part in question could also be available from Ford I am given a guess that the cost of the part would be about £50.  I would also guess that there must be an airconditioning repair company relatively local to you.

Peter.

Hi Dominic...welcome to the Club

You could try some of the local (Dorset based) Jaguar specialists....Dorset Sports Cars, Marina Garage, Hollygrove Jaguar to name a few or otherwise there is a really good air conditioning specialist on the Ringwood Road industrial estate that may be able to source a generic component that would work.

Good to have you onboard

Cheers,  Trevor

p.s....good collection of cars over the years!
