Well bit the bullet and gone modern.

Hi all

I am Wayne from Manchester, well Radcliffe to be precise.

I say in the title `bit the bullet` as this is the most modern newest car i have even owned. I am an old 20 year`ish old car lover, easy basic and fixable by me. Now since i have started up working for myself part time and needing a car better on fuel and reliable ( oh yes i still have my 1996  FTO, in need of work and will be done some day )  i looked at BMW and Volvo for the space for my tools, yes it is to carry tools and a van was to much on insurance so i got a policy for car to be used as business which is no much more expensive than a basic car policy.

I missed out on four cars until i found this one and gla di did as this is all i was after in one.

Oh and i did the the one and only thing i have never done before in the over 20 cars i have had and bought with out viewing first. Must be an age thing is alli can say, or getting more stupid but it is in Nottingham and me in Manchester and have little spare time.

X Type estate 2.2D SE 08 plate. 114K on the clock. little high on miles but FSH comes with.

I just hope to god it is a good one and comes with very little future problems as said i can fix cars but not these modern plug in gadget cars.

Just looking forward to next week now and all the next week of sleepless nights.

It has all i wanted as said, the interior, not dark with all black/grey, and diamond ( forgot the name  now) love the exterior colour and wheels are a biggy for me.

Hope to stick around but not for questions on things that need doing lol.

Wayne

Hi Wayne and Welcome to the Club,

Thats a very good looking motor and I'm sure she'll give you lots of pleasure and, hopefully, little to grouse about. Enjoy. By the way, the Jag grin is not an optional extra so watch out for aching cheeks.

Cheers,

Steve

A Leaper maybe? But thats a matter of personal taste and whether you can find someone you trust to drill holes in such a fine example?

Ok i am lost already with a `leaper` ?

Drilling hole in my new pride and joy doesnt sound good though.

I am looking into getting a remap done a si have been told that it improves power, not that bothers me, past being  a speed freak after all the driving i do for work, but economy gets better also i have been told.

I have been trying all day to work out how to collect the car tomorrow but no luck so its going to be next saturday still 😞

The 'Leaper' tag refers to the Jaguar statuette you used to see on all Jags. Many people go for it and have one installed and it does add something to the car. Not to my tastes though, I'm a bit of puritan.

Not sure about how a re-map will improve both performance and fuel economy but then I've never considered it.

Hope you sort out how to get your new ride as soon as you can - until you do every day is wasted day.

Hi Wayne,

I have the same model and year except mine is auto. Yours is the colour I was looking for at the time but finished up with a grey one.

Hope you love it as much as I do.

Cheers

Rod

Hi Wayne,

You don't need to drill a hole, as there are stick on ones,  but don't fit a leaper  -  it does not look that good on an x type.

And I would not bother with a remap, as you have bought a good workhorse, rather than a sports car. The 2.2  diesel engine is a good one and quite economical when well driven.  Additionally a remap might affect your insurance and possibly the new rules for the MOT.

Regards,

Peter.

Oh the Jag `leaper` symbol thing, nah not for me either, maybe on  a Daimler.

I just read  a quick bit about the remap, also the dealer i first went to said i can do a remap for better MPG. selling pint maybe.

Infact it was the same car as i have got but metallic grey and black interior, so a little dark for me but the rest was great, i am now glad it had old before i got to it.

Well a week to go and i can get it 🙂 it has been a busy weekend and off to bed now. The weekend was easy to get through but for the usual, when you get a new car you see so many similar. Rest f the week well i will have to be calm lol

Hi Frank,

The Leaper can look well, and even Bill Lyons was overruled when he said it looked like a frightened cat being chased off a fence!

It is an iconic type, and if an owner likes it, no problems and it does look like a Jaguar.

Regards,

Peter,
