Hi All,

I have just joined this forum and look forward to reading some of the experiences of owning Jaguars by other members. I have just changed my car, as of yesterday, to a 2014 XF 3.0D S Sportbrake. Prior to this I had an X-Type 2.2D Sovereign Estate on a 59 plate that I had owned for four years. It was a superb example and left me with still only 66k miles on the clock. In the past I have had two other Jaguars, another X-Type 2.2D Estate back in 2009 from new, as a company vehicle. Over the four years that I had this one it racked up about 90000 miles. This was also a lovely car and was the basis for me to look for another low mileage example of my own back in 2017. My other Jag was a 1968 Jaguar 420 that I owned for about 18 months in 1979/80. This too was a very sound car but as a poorly paid student accountant it wasn't the most sensible car to be driving at the time. The maintenance nearly killed me!

I guess the driver for me joining this forum is a subject that has probably been flogged well and truly before on this forum, and that is ECO Stop / Start. I am not a great fan myself and my latest acquisition has it and it is working perfectly. However, I would like to stop it and the manual suggests pressing the ECO button to do this. The problem is, my car doesn't seem to have one where the manual suggests it should be, i.e. where the on-off switch is located for the touch-screen display. So, can anyone with a similar vehicle give me a pointer as to how to disengage the Stop / Start, even if I have to do it every time I start the car from scratch?

Hello Graham,

Welcome to Jaguar Owners Club.

It's great place to be able to talk to people who are obsessed as I am with Jaguars, and not get the usual response when i speak enthusiastically about them of glazed eyes and a look of boredom 🤣

 I have a x type 2.2 d Sovereign at present.

I love it but really want an S type again. I had one before and just love the look of them.

The 420 you had must have been a beautiful car to drive and own.

I don't know much about the XF , only its a fine looking car, I have found this information re Eco Stop/ Start

May be t will help.

Best Regards,

Julie.

How do I turn off the stop start on my Jaguar XF?

Jaguar Owner Information. To switch the Intelligent stop/start system off, press the ECO stop/start button. For more information, see DRIVER CONTROLS. To confirm that the system has been switched off, the button LED will extinguish, and the message ECO Stop/Start Off is momentarily displayed in the Message centre

Hi Graham,

That's a shame, sorry I could not help.

I am sure there must be someone in the XF owners section who can offer an answer.

Sorry for spelling in my message laptop keyboard playing up.

Rgds

Julie.

Hi All,

Time to wipe a few eggs off my face and book a visit to Specsavers. When I collected my XF I was convinced the button below the touch screen display was a power button for said display but taking a closer look earlier it does in fact have 'ECO' on it. Doh!! So, answered my own query in a rather embarrasing way.

Thanks for the replies. Time to go and lie in a dark corner!
