Sad Day

I have just sold my lovely XK. Absolutely beautiful. Inside and out, 15 years old but only 37000 miles.

I had intended to keep it until I could no longer climb of it, but that was pre Covid.

In each of the last two years I have only done a few hundred miles, due both to Covid restrictions, and the fact that I am on the Critically Vulnerable List. Sadly, I have come to recognise that Covid isn’t going to go away, at least for people like myself, so I might as well let the XK go to someone who will use it!

I know that it is the right decision, but that doesn’t stop it being very sad…

I am therefore no longer a Jaguar owner, but I have enjoyed the Club, and I anticipate that I will be visiting the site on a regular basis.

Thanks for all your help, and best wishes to you all.

Hi David,

Sorry to hear that you have sold you Car.

I understand, I am selling my XF due to work and family commitments, just not getting time to use it or go to events as I had planned.

The car needs to be driven.

I will get a new car next year when things are sorted out.

When things get better on the Covid front may be you can get another car in the future.

Best Wishes,

Julie.

Hi David,

Sorry to see you lose your Jaguar.

I have had similar thoughts but even though I had an offer [£5k] for my s-type we had made sure that we could avoid Covid etc.  We have both had our 3 jabs and have kept away of the crowds.

Look in when you can,  enjoy the day, and my best regards,

Peter.

Hi David

Sorry to hear that you have had to sell your Jag, although it does seem a sensible solution given the circumstances.
It is quite common with motorcyclists to sell a particular bike because it is too fast, tall, heavy or many other reasons why you stopped riding it so much over the years. However, it then just makes way for something slower, lower or lighter and then tends to get ridden more often.
Have you considered an F-Pace or others within the SUV range?

You are more than welcome to visit and add to the forums as you have done so often over the years and have contributed great content and assistance to others.
We would genuinely miss you on here if you didn't visit, even though you don't (currently) drive a Jaguar.

All the best,   Trevor

Thanks Trevor, and to everyone else who has responded with such kind words.

We have a 58 kilo dog, so have always needed a large vehicle. My wife has a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso which has been a great car for the dog, and indeed for us too. We are in the process of changing it, and I did look at the Jaguars, but their load height is too high for the dog to jump in and out without long term joint damage, and really there wasn’t enough height for her (the dog, not the wife) to sit up either. They (and the vast majority of other SUVs) were therefore ruled out, and we are buying a Skoda Enyaq - so going all electric.

That isn’t anything to do with the reason for selling my XK though: That was purely because it hasn’t been used for the two years since Covid began, and I didn’t foresee that changing any time soon, due to my damaged auto-immune system.

It seems that if I get Covid there is a strong possibility that I will die, and that does make me a bit wary of mixing with strangers! That has put paid to the social visits to pubs and restaurants with associated pleasant drives, which was when we went out without the dog, so were able to use the XK.

I know that I have done the right thing, but I do miss it like crazy!
