full Ceramic coating

Recommended Posts

Hi, has anyone had their car treated with a full ceramic coating?

Is it worth while? does it offer protection if your car is kept outside like mine?

Thank you.

Julie.

I keep my car outside like you. It is washed regularly using a SnowFoam, then a Good Shampoo and then on a monthly basis I use a Hydrophobic water solution to spray the car, before finally drying and buffing . It keeps very well, dirt does not stick and washes away easily . Any rain or elements in the air form large bubbles and run off the car. I do also always use a pressure washer, nothing fancy, just a cheap Karcher model.

Best Wishes, John

Though very good, the ceramic coatings are not a one time deal and forget about it, they still require maintenance. When looking at around £600 for a proper job I’d be looking at other alternatives.

Wrinkly’s preferred method is a very good alternative for a car that is kept outside and used daily.

Thank you both for your help.

The Ceramic coating I found was £1400!

Kind Regards,

Julie.

Is someone attempting to have a laugh. £1400 ....I feel I would want two cars done for that money. Perhaps their finish is twice as good. ????????????????????????

Best Wishes, John

I know John, it was an article on another clubs site. They had a special offer for members it was reduced to £700 for a few days, some company in Telford.

Hi,

Most of the cost is due to all the pre coating preparation of the paint.

Snow foam, rinse, Contact Wash, rinse, dry, fallout remover, rinse, dry, clay bar, rinse, dry, inspect with light, measure paint thickness, machine polish, panel wipe, light inspect, finish polish, inspect, panel wipe...then finally apply the coating of your choice to the paint.

Then consider the prep of the wheels (off the car), lights and glass with their coatings and it all adds up to a lot of time.

And whilst you're getting all that done, you may as well add in cleaning and protecting your engine bay, trim and tyres.

NB. The above is a proper job.

Or, you could do it all yourself. It isn't rocket science......honest.

Hi Mark,

Thank you.

Since posting I recently had one of my cars paint and interior detailed, wheels refurbed

and coating added. It looks great.

I do try my self to keep them looking presentable but the XJ I only  bought last year

really need a lot of time spent on it, which I have not had.

I am really pleased with the results.

Best Regards,

Julie.

Hi

looks great

The top side tend to hold quite well and look good and even better when detailed

can also recomend when washing you car that a bit of time is spent  cleaning the hidden bits, especially wheel arch area, and under side, sills and splash areas from wheels

you be amazed how much salt this time of year accumalates in just a few days, when you snow foaming, do the arches and sills and if you use a wash/wax type wash, same again, It does eat the metal and alluminium. so easy to keep on top of

I use a autobrite ceramic protection in the snow foam gun to do the arches and underside and it really does stop the dirt sticking

cheers

Joe

Hi Andrew,

Not tried XI will have a look for it.

Cheers,

Julie.

Hi again Julie, I meant I have an Xj too, it is kept outside all year, I clean it with water less wash and wax, it comes up a treat and the more you use it the more protection you have, it takes around 20 minutes to do the whole car. I bought it through ideal world but it is available at most outlets.

all the best, Andy

Hi Andy,

I have some waterless wash but was worried about scratching the paint if there happened to be any grit or particles on the surface.

Best Regards,

Julie.

Hi Julie, use a quality product and proper cloths and it is not a problem, I have never scratched any cars I have used it on and use microfiber cloths.  I have used it on a really dirty car but it clogs the cloth up but still no scratches, give the car a wash then use product, then clean it regularly with water less product, use it everywhere but the front windshield you won't go wrong.
