Oil Dilution

Featured Replies

Just had my car, XJ L Autobiography in the garage as the service indicator keeps coming in and counting down very quickly.

The garage have said this is due to abnormal oil dilution due to the DPF regen not performing properly.

The car is driven on both long and short journeys. It has only done 58000.

Any suggestions please as to what might be causing this?

Just as an update to my request for assistance, the car has gone through extensive fault finding and nothing can be found. The car also when pushed very hard using paddle shifts goes in to RP. Again, no fault indicated or recorded.

Oil dillution is dangerous, hopefully you've changed oil by now.

Check glow plug module if its working properly as when faulty, it will stop dpf regens. But it would have dtc stored for it...

RP when pushed hard - more likely split manifolds. Dont believe theres no errors when it's in RP🤔

What is used to scan it?

Absolute changed the oil at a main dealer. There is a problem somewhere with regen but it’s not the GP Module.

As for the RP, the fault only shows at that point and until the car is switched off then it disappears…

Hmm ok. Not sure about regens then.

Regarding RP, I had the same. Switch the car off and it disappears. Could be sticky throttle🤔

Is a mystery, the car has been thoroughly checked over by a Jaguar trained tech and can find no faults…..

If it was checked at main dealer, I wouldn't bet on it being thoroughly checked and/or on trained tech skills...at main dealerships proper diagnostics skills are like unicorns farts nowadays.

if possible, find independent jag garage, you will have better chance to get it fixed.
