Low battery warning

Featured Replies

I have a 2014 jaguar xf 2.2. Love the car but am having what seems to be the usual issues with low battery warning. Never failed to start but on occassions gives the impression of being a teenager with a hangover being told to get out of bed at lunchtime, ie reluctant. I’ve had the main battery checked. All good. I’ve just replaced the small battery as it was the original and dead. A day on my drive not being used and the same warning comes up with the rather reluctant start. Question. I have a Nextbase camera fitted front and rear and it is hard wired rather than only with the ignition on which I think may be causing a slow trickle drain. Is this likely and should I have it rewired. Thanks Steve H.

How Battery was tested? It needs load test to get accurate answer.

A hardwired dashcam with constant power is almost certainly the issue. Definitely worth rewiring it to switch off with the ignition.

Edit: you can check this guide on wiring. It's about audio accessories, but the methodolgy is the same with all the similar electronics that can drain the battery if not connected properly: https://www.carid.com/articles/car-audio-system-wiring-basics.html

I had this exact problem - turned out to be parasitic leakage via tthe bluetooth module, which once replaced solved the problem.

Thanks to all those that responded to my battery issue. I have had the camera rewired so as to work only off the ignition plus I’ve purchased another good quality trickle charger and am connecting this whenever I leave the car for more than a few days and thus far all good.
