Evening all...

I've got a headlight bulb (HID) out on my 2016 XF and was going to replace it tomorrow..my question is if it's not the bulb but the balast that isn't working is this a stand alone part that can be replaced too.

Thanks in advance.

It is most usually a bulb that has failed and if you can access it easily you could change them over to prove the point.
Be very careful with handling the ballast as this can be very high and dangerous voltages that you wouldn't want to plug yourself into!

Well it isn't the bulb...swapped them over and the o/s bulb worked on the n/s headlight.I've got the part number now anyway.I'll see if one of the Jag breakers on Fb have a second hand balast and then give JLR in Stirling a call just for a laugh.

Hi Everyone,

Just for the record, 7 years ago I had an headlight bulb fail on my 04 XJ.

Being disabled I would have struggled to get my hand inside the limited space to change the bulb. So, I thought it best to visit my nearest independant Jaguar dealer and have them change the bulb. Cost me £219 so as you can imagine, I was not a happy bunny !.

Supertrev.

.

Hi all, out of interest would it be a faulty ballast that's responsible for the headlights not turning off during during the day when on auto ? I'm talking in bright sunshine they still stay on so I have now taken to not having them on auto any more.

Thanks, Dave
