Leather seat damage

Hi, I have just joined the Jaguar Owners club and I wanted to ask any member if they know anything about repairing a leather seat. I have an XF still in warrenty and I have noticed a flaw in the drivers seat. The leather has started to tear and i wondered if it could be repaired?

Any ideas?

Thanks in anticipation.

If the car is still under warranty you should take it back to the dealer. There is no way a seat should tear unless something has caught in the leather.

Should they not agree to a repair we have a very good chap that does all our releathering who could repair it.

If it still under warranty they will repair it completely or better still they will replace it completely. I had a tear on the nearside door lining of my XJ, pointed it out and it went back and was completely replaced

do let us know how you get on

Best,

Alastair

Hi Alastair

Sorry have not replied earlier but have only just come back from holiday. Thanks for the info I will certainly take the XF back to the dealer and ask for a repair as the warrenty doesnt run out until November. I will let you and Big Al know what happens.

Many thanks again

Paul

Hi Soraya

Thank you very much for getting back to me. I will take the car back to the Jaguar dealer and see what they say. If they dont help I would very much like to get in touch with your repair chap. Does he come to the house to repair or would I have to go to him?

After they saw the problem they said they felt it was probably wear and tear. I felt this was a poor show as the car is not even 3 years old yet.

I wonder if anyone else has had leather problems with the XF?

I would write to Jaguar, do not think that is acceptable, not unless you have done about 300,000 miles and the car is a right state, but guess that is not the case, you can have Jags from the old days still with seats that have not needed repairing, the only step would be to let the dealer know that you will have the seat inspected by an independent specialist and if the report tells you that it is not fair, wear and tear, then you will claim costs and expenses from the dealer, good luck, hope you get it sorted mate.

Hi all

I have now had my leather seat repaired by an amazing speacialist. They have done a marvellous job and you could not tell it had ever been damaged.

If anyone is interested go to http://lhcupholstery.com/

Or write to Dale at dale@lhcupholstery.com

I would certainly recommend them.

Thanks for all your support and I will let you know if Jaguar do anything, but I doubt it. My main concern is that my pride and joy is back up to scratch.

I would have written to Jaguar first, it is totally unacceptable that such a high specification vehicle should suffer this sort of problem within three years. I would go back to Jaguar all guns blazing and I wouldn't have gone back to your dealer again or taken any notice of your dealer because they are having trouble shifting vehicles and just simply don't want any more expense.

Jaguar have got a reputation to keep, your dealer sounds as if he's a bit of an Arthur Daley :-)

do let us know how you get on because this is of interest to every member here.

best wishes,

Alastair

Hi Alastair, and Big Al - Hoooray!

Thanks so much for all your encouragement in contacting Jaguar. I did just that, they sent a very pleasant reply and have given me a credit note for the full amount of the repair which I can use at any jag dealership. So I am very pleased indeed. It will go towards my next service of that you can be assured.

Once again thanks for your support

Rgs Paul :)
