If you would like to update the sat nav on a pre 2011 facelift XF? Try this: satnavdvd.co.uk/jaguar-23-c.asp

Recently got my 2009 premium luxury 3.0d XF and it is fabulous... Mine has Live Digital Television, lots of channels, great if you have to sit in the car waiting for someone!

Redcalibra; oh if life were so simple.

When you buy the map update you have to supply your VIN number, that is then coded onto the usb stick which will then only update the vehicle with that same VIN number.

I used SatNav updates to get an updated  disc for my s type and got a 2012/13 disc to replace the 2005 one that can with the car when I bought it secondhand.. I don't know if the XF is the same, however.

I think the Satnav in the S Type is quite good, though not as colourful at the TomTom.  Doris has got me through some complicated routes without difficulty.

Regards,

Peter.

There have been a couple of updates. I have the 2013 discs but the 2015 ones are now out. Easy to update, just swap the disc in the boot to the newer one. Turn on and after about 30 seconds of scary blank screen it all returned to life..

Do people think the SatNav updates are worth the money?  I have a 2010 XF and done no updates so far.  My main problem with the SatNav is the Traffic Alerts and the majority of time they are completely wrong and insisting that I take a long detour for no reason.  As such, we now tend to ignore what it is saying and use Google maps instead.  Does the update sort out these traffic glitches?

Thanks Poi man.  I think that I will leave the update at this stage as the old maps are good enough for my purposes, and use Google maps on the phone for up to the minute traffic.

Welcome to the Club, Scott.

My update for the S Type was the last one they made for the s type, so in 10 years time I will be using a 12 year old map.  But on the other hand I will be well chuffed if I am!

Regards,

Peter.

Hi there ,

I'm a newbie to this club having just swapped my Merc. 270 Cdi for a XF Luxury S  facelift model (61 plate). Can anybody tell me how the satnav is updated.and how do I get a memory stick of my music to work in this car. I'm really missing Frank and Ella. Oh and what a fab car I haven't stopped grinning yet........ but soon will do if I can't get the USB gizmo working. Replies in normal English please I'm not good at shorts and anagrams.

Hi Dave..The Satnav is on a hard drive on the facelift XF 'That's the reason you can play a DVD' Mine was updated FOC to 16 spec at a recent major service. If you purchased the car from a main Jaguar dealer it may be worth asking if as part of 'good will' to do this for you. Also as the car is over 3 years old to keep there customers Jaguar offer a £199.00 servicing deal. As for the USB stick I have know idea? In my wife's Audi (Sorry for using a swear word )It just plugs into a lead in the glove box:walkman:

Hi Haysie, and welcome to the club.

My S Type Sat Nav maps have a DVD system in the boot, just above the CD players. I was able to obtain a replacement disc. The last disc for the s type system is for 2012.

I think the XF system is one that is on a more advanced system, which has to be downloaded.   I think that some XF members have updated it.

I will have a look around.

Regards,

Peter.

My XF is a 12 plate and uses the USB stick. I suspect JLR are the same as all of the manufacturers (tell me if not) in that the price charged to keep up to date is outrageous and, quite frankly, leaves a bad taste. Compare this customer rip off (theft) to to my old Garmin sat nav that is not only better and more comprehensive but cost £70 for lifetime updates. If this is JLR's idea of looking after "valued" customers?

It reminds me of how the record and movie business endlessly complained, when they tried to restrict availability and charged top dollar for their product, when people stole it via internet download sites. What goes around comes around so stop alienating customers and provide a better service. End of rant!

P.S. I did buy the USB update (even comes via snail mail, couldn't even download it) when i was flush with new owner pride and think the DRM prevents it being passed on, if not you are welcome to have it

Hi Phil,

When I bought my S type, I was told by the salesman [Main Dealer] that the disc in the Satnav was the 2006 disc. The cost of an update was "an exorbitant £161" in his words and that I could buy one for less than £30, which i did.

Peter.
