For any one else considering coming along but not yet decided... Why not come along?

This should be a great day out for you, and your car, by the seaside against the classic backdrop of the Brighton promenades.

A chance to meet the other forum members (you have often wondered what
faces and cars are represented by the posts on here), pick up hints or
tips about your car and do the same for others. A chance to say thanks
in person to members that have helped you, or them of you.

This is a fantastic chance to see all the models of Jaguar in just one
place, hear the gorgeous sound of a number of different capacities and
ages of Jaguar engines, and to see the work we all put in to show our
cars off at their best.

There will be cars right from 1984 through to 2012 there.. over 25 years
of car production by our favourite luxury car manufacturer. Additionally
I am trying to get every model represented if I can.

Also, In addition to the meet itself we are also organising a convoy
down the A23 from Crawley to Brighton for the start of the day, along
with the obligatory big breakfast and mugs of tea in a local café there
before we start, and a chance to get to know everyone.

During the day members of public will likely have a look at our cars
and photograph them, asking questions, stopping to chat.. we'll get some
pics of our meet and the signed banner up on the forum.. and most
importantly we will know who is who on the forums.. and their cars :-)

I am hoping we can also get something or other sorted with Jaguar but
am very unsure if they will be happy to get involved - but we will give
it a good go.

So if you are free on the 25th of May and want a really good Top Gear
type of Jaguar day out please just put your name down for it..

http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-68/uk-south-east-meet-spring-summer-2014-brighton-107585/ - It is happening this month.. currently the oldest Jaguar coming to the meet is an XJS - V12 from 1984 I would love for us to be able to extend the range of cars at the meet to before this date - if anyone has a classic Jag or one that predates 1984 and can make the meet - please. please put your name forward

Just a quick update - it is possible that we'll have an Aston DB9
keeping us company on the day, and I am *trying* to encourage someone
with an XJ220 to come along.. I will update you when I know more

Just to update  - I have been in touch with Harwoods Jaguar in Brighton
regarding the meet and if they can do anything for us - they referred me
to their UK Sales Office who are going to look into if there is
anything they can do for us on the day. They sounded reasonably positive
so I am hopeful :-) I will update you as I find out more...

Ok I am in touch with Jaguar Cars' Sponsorship Manager and will let you
know the outcome - I am hoping we can maybe sort something minor for
this year but maybe sponsorship to close Madiera Drive next year and
have it exclusively for us :-) But I am ahead of myself on that (as
always - grin) Meanwhile though Harwoods Jaguar of Brighton have agreed
to participate this year and will be bringing a car along for us - I am
waiting to hear back from them with more details and will of course
update you when I know more but for me this is a bit of a milestone as
it is the first meet I have organised that has been recognised by the
dealership :-)) And I am now a little more hopeful that we can organise
something for next year with Jaguar theirselves...

Harwoods Jaguar - the local Jaguar dealership will be attending on the day and bringing a car along for us, and I am currently in contact with Jaguar theirselves to see if they can get involved.

We are currently advertised on the VisitBrighton tourism website as an event, and we have advertised our event with the local newspaper, and JaguarWorld Monthly.

During the day members of public will likely have a look at our cars and photograph them, asking questions, stopping to chat.. we'll get some pics of our meet and the signed banner up on the forum.. and most importantly we will know who is who on the forums.. and their cars :-)

I have just had the final confirmation from Brighton & Hove Highways Dept that the pier end of Madiera Drive will definately be open on the day despite the far end being closed off for another event.. but we definately need to set up there quite early on the day before the public/tourists start occupying the parking slots.. I will try to fine tune the time of start to give us the best chance, and will start enquiries about maybe closing the road for our event next year to ensure we have all the parking and space we need.

OK, there has been some debate about the best time to get to Brighton to ensure we get a fair sized block of parking, rather than we are fragmented all along the seafront, and it has been agreed that we meet at Pease Pottage Services at 8am on the day, leaving at 8:20am - allowing us to get settled in Madiera Drive at about 9am.

I'll be updating the list of attendees later today and will hopefully have some info on the Jaguar dealerships timings for the day..

Last week I was chasing the Brighton Argus to see if they could attend and maybe do a panel or two on us... I am hoping for some feedback on that next week.

I'm also going to see if I can get us some kind of discount at the local cafe there - every little helps :-) I'll let you know how that goes too.

During the week I'll also try to find out the exact costings if we were to close the road for next year and make the meet more of an official event.. Just need to cross my fingers and see if maybe Jaguar can sponsor us for it.. Yes I know I'm ahead of myself grin... But if they can help I would very much appreciate it:-) I have already made contact with their sponsorship manager so am hoping.....

By next weekend I should also have all the details of the day online for everyone... Meanwhile I'll keep you guys in touch with anything else I can manage for the day.

OK - The dealership have confirmed they will be attending on the day
with a V8 F-Type Coupe, and the cafe has (so far) agreed to a fixed cost
of £5 per person for big breakfast and drink on the day.. *but* I am
trying to get that figure knocked down a bit further for us and am
waiting on the manager to contact me - I will update you as I go

OK, couldn't get the price down on the breakfast - but have arranged so
anyone attending the meet can get a basic breakfast or burger or fish
meal and tea/coffee all inclusive for £5. Additionally the cafe will
ensure they are open by 9am for us..

Ok I am on the last couple of things to try and sort - one is Jaguar
sponsorship - I have been in contact with the Jaguar Sponsorship Manager
but have yet to get any feedback, and the other is to try to get The
Brighton Argus to carry a panel or two and maybe some pics of our event -
I have tried the reporters directly and had no feedback so am now in
contact with the editor... Once these are in the bag I'll have another
look at trying to get more of the classic or unusual cars to come to the
meet (with their owners :-))

There is two bits of good news (apart for fixed price food) which is
that Harwoods should be with us all day, and they want to participate in
any future meets so hopefully we are guaranteed a good meet not just
this summer but every summer from now :-)

Here is the current schedule (subject to change as we get closer to the date)

08:00 Meet in Pease Pottage Service Station of 20 or so cars
08:15 Travel down to Madiera Drive in convoy
09:00 Set up in a large parking block at the pier end of Madiera Drive
09:15 Meet up with attendees that could not make the convoy &
signage placed inside windscreens of cars at the meet to help us know
who is who etc
09:30-10:30 Big Breakfast in the Seagull restaurant a few metres from the meet
10:30 General social events etc kick off
11:30 Some banner signing by everyone there and some group shots for the forums

Parking, if I remember correctly, is £10 for up to four hours, and £15 for up to 12 hours (it all went up this year) and we have fixed price basic breakfast/burger/fish meals plus a tea or coffee at £5 per person on quoting a 'secret squirrel' code :-) which I'll advise on on the day.

I would appreciate it if anyone coming to the meet or the convoy tracks me down on arrival for a dashboard info sheet, and any handouts I can get, or need to hand out to you guys.
I'll post any updates as we go of course, and repost the final schedule towards the end of this week.. I very much appreciate everyone giving their time to attend, and hope that everyone enjoys the day - hopefully by the day I'll have the start of some info on next years meet on the go lol.. and remember I am still taking bookings for a smaller meet in December this year :-)

For anyone considering coming along, but unsure whether to or not please come along and join the rest of us.. you know the itinery from further back in the thread.. it is a fantastic chance to put faces (and cars) to names from the forums, to meet everyone in a great location with the sea in front of you, the promenades as the backdrop.. Harwoods Jaguar will be in attendance, we have a great deal on food so you won't go hungry, there will be group photos etc for the forums, I am trying to get us into the local paper with photos, and last but by far the best thing is you will get to see a wide range of Jaguars, different models, engine capacities, and ages all in the one place.. other people there to advise you on any issues you may have with your Jaguar, you may well have tips for other owners.. it is going to be a great day out - a Jaguar sort of TopGear day! And that isn't all - we are also running a convoy down the A23 - a huge block of Jaguars travelling in convoy from Crawley to Brighton.. far enough for a convoy but not so far as to strain any classic Jaguars that may come along.. so if you are undecided please read through the thread, and maybe put your name forward for a great day out!

If all goes well on the day I will be well chuffed - the response from fellow Jag owners, and the people/companies supplying us
with deals/services has all been fantastic and if everyone enjoys the day, I am more than happy to try to plan bigger and even better for next year :-) My thanks go out to everyone for their support in making the day happen... now if we can just swing something with the weather for the day..... :-)

Just 12 days to go!
