Today is the last day I will be updating the threads until the day of the event.. I need to get the usual weekend things done and *try* to get my baby jag cleaned up and presentable for Sunday :-) ..
On Sunday you need to track me down (Blue X-Type RN02CVS) for your itinerary sheet, dashboard info sheet and any freebies I can sort, when you arrive at Pease Pottage Service Station, or Madeira Drive - I can also then get a reasonably accurate idea of who has made it, might be late, or can't make it, for the forum writeup.
Currently everyone looks to be good for the meet with just Candellara, Johnny1Jag, and Mark8 not sure
they can actually make it on the day.
The weather is supposed to be brightening up in time for Sunday so hopefully we will have a good day.
Don't forget we have got Harwoods Jaguar attending, and part of the info I will be handing out is the code for the fixed price breakfast :-)
I'll put up the latest and most current list of who is coming towards the end of today along with the itinerary - anyone else wanting to come along is welcome to post that they want to come, and I'll pick up the info on the day....
All the best
Steve

This is pretty much the last call for anyone considering coming along but undecided.. this Sunday is a great chance to meet the other forum members and their cars.. why not come along?

We will have cars ranging in age from 1984 right through to now, everything from a V6 through to V8 and V12 engines, even a showroom F-Type coupe will be in attendance from Harwood Jaguar. It's a great chance to socialise over a big breakfast or brunch at a fixed price, there will be group photo's, a forum banner you need to sign for posterity, and genuine Jaguar chat with others who share exactly the same interest - Jaguar cars.. Hopefully newspapers will be attending to cover the event, and members of public interested in our cars will come over to say Hello..

This is the second Brighton Convoy/Meet with another in planning for December, and plans afoot for a sponsored meet in May next year as well - so why not come along and become part of Jaguar history in the making with this event being the second of many to come? Just pop a post up on the forum here, or email me at stephen.sheldon@solidlinux.co.uk or sms me at 07914 116375, or you can WhatsApp me.. if you can't make this convoy/meet but would like to attend the next one please let me
know as I am already taking bookings :-)

This is going to be a great TopGear sort of day but Jaguar specific.. everything from a large convoy from Crawley to Brighton (an easier journey than London to Brighton) appearing in Brighton making a huge Jaguar statement as we arrive at Madiera Drive and park up. Making the local cafe there a Jaguar eating place, catching up with who is who etc before heading back out to the cars to socialise and view the cars before banner signing, and group photos showing the event off on the forums. So if you are free on the day please consider coming along and joining in the event..

OK - here is the final itinerary for the convoy and meet... please track me down when you arrive on the day (blue X-Type RN02CVS) - I'll have an info pack for you, including a dashboard info sheet to complete and pop on the dashboard when you park.. I can be contacted on the day by email at stephen.sheldon@solidlinux.co.uk, or whatsapp or sms at 07914 116375 if you need to get hold of me for any reason. The lists won't be updated any further until the day of the meet as I will be offline but please post on here, or contact me by sms or whatsapp, or email if you want to come and are not listed yet, or have a query, and I'll try to sort there and then or on the day.

The days itinerary is listed below for your info, so you know whats happening and when...

08:00 Meet at Pease Pottage Service Station at the base of the M23
08:15 Depart in convoy for Brighton (cruising speed 65mph)
09:00 Park up in one large parking block in Madiera Drive as close to the Pier end as we can.
09:30-10:30 Big Breakfast in Seagulls Cafe – meal + tea/coffee for £5 when quoting the secret squirrel code to be supplied on the day :-)
10:30 General social events etc. start
11:30 Group signings of banner, and group photos for the forums

The parking is pay and display at this location and is £10 for four hours or £15 for 12 hours. Your meal will be £5.00 per person.. so hopefully no shocks or surprises if you are on a budget

That's pretty much it.. the lists are still open should anyone else want to come along and join in.. I will update them as we go, and if we do manage to get the newspaper coverage I'll let you know as well..

Other than that I very much look forward to meeting on the day..

All the best, Steve

p.s. I will have a sharpie with me for banner signing, and completing the dashboard info sheets but if you could bring one as well just in case I would be grateful :-)

Unfortunately I had pothole induced puncture the morning of the meet, so with one thing and another only made it to Brighton at about 12.30 and I guess most folk had gone by then, in the event I couldn't get any parking along Madeira Drive, so just did a circuit, stopped at one point but had to move on because of the traffic ... even then it took me an hour and a half to get back out on the A27.

Maybe I'll make it next year.

PS Two new Pirelli P Zero's were the consequence of the day (front and rear driver's side)!

Hi Guys, Here are the photo's I managed to take at the meet - They are all high resolution and hopefully that counters my photography standard :-) Tony from Harwoods took a couple of shots for me and I'll think you find they stand out compared to mine lol These shots are all at the actual meet site, and not of the convoy itself as it was maybe the only chance a baby Jag has ever had to lead that many Supercar Jags anywhere :-) and was at the front.. It really was a great day, despite starting very eventfully for me and for SteveY. Please have a look through the following photos - three or four batches - I hope you like them, and you might be willing to come again to the next Brighton meet..

Splatter88 has put up a video of the convoy here... many many thanks to him for that

Video now on Youtube. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fiu8...ature=youtu.be

I got just got the dash cam a couple of days before so I'm still
figuring it out. It's a bit long and a bit boring in places and I
apologize for my choice of music but still thought to upload it anyway.

I had the date/time and speed switched off so it was a bit more clean looking.

There's a bit where I'm bumping my gums to Pulcino (Jaguarforums.co.uk)
about the dash cam and if anyone else would like to I got form eBay NEXTBASE iN-CAR CAM 402-G Professional - DVR Video Recorder for Car | eBay and the sd card 32GB CLASS 10 MICRO SD MEMORY CARD WITH ADAPTER NEW UK STOCK | eBay

Please bear with me with anything not quite right - I'm more than happy to edit this with any corrections etc..
On the Saturday afternoon I washed and swept out my baby Jag.. but didn't manage to get the time to give it a good wax.. On the Sunday morning I collected some cardboard tubes to mount the banner, and the info packs I was due to hand out on the day. That was then a window got broken at home at 7:30 with just 30 minutes to the meet.. I tracked down a glazier but didn't think I was going to be able to make the meet - but my wife took over at home and said to go.. I made it up to Pease Pottage Services at about 08:15 on the day.
As I pulled into the car park I was surprised to see so many Jaguars there - an incredible sight for that time of day, and more cars than I had expected to come along which was fantastic. Tony from Harwoods Jaguar had driven up to join, and we had cars there from all over the country! The info packs containing JaguarForum decals, A dashboard info sheet to complete, and the itinery were passed around quickly and we set off..
You can see a video of us setting off and the run down there (many, many thanks to Splatter88 for that) at
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fiu8...ature=youtu.be
Part way down to Brighton I moved up to the front of the convoy moving past all models of Jaguar - every one bigger than my baby Jag...
We arrived in Brighton just before 9am, a long convoy of Jaguars.. working our way through the traffic system in Brighton. Traffic lights split the convoy a few times but as a whole we managed to keep it together so we had a long stream of Jaguars pulling into and along Madiera Drive, finally parking where there was a fairly large block free.
Once we had parked up the banner was unfurled and set up using some cardboard tubes I had gained.. filling them with pebbles in the bottom to keep them upright - didn't work grin.. but the banner was in place and we were more or less all there.
About 9:45 I think it was we all headed over to the Seagull Cafe for breakfast - on the way down to Brighton the chef had been on the phone asking how many people were coming, what time and what would they be eating (I didnt pick up on that he might be panicking :-)) - we had tweo main rows of tables outside the cafe and a few tables inside as well. The chef had a few problems dealing with the numbers but within an hour or so :-) we had all been fed (baked beans, fried egg, sausage, tomato, two rashers of bacon, and a mug of tea) and time to head back to the cars.
About 11:20 we managed to get the banner signed by everyone still there, and got some group photos taken. And then back to general socialising.
About 12:30-1:00 everyone started to depart.
The company was really great, easy going, and not all petrolhead talk - in fact virtually every subject imaginable was covered including foreign students and rugby kit!! grin
Tony from Harwoods was great, he helped with some of the group shots, and was there for everyone.. Even the owner of the art shop called 'Jag' came out and brought his E-Type round for us to see..
It was a fantastic day - great company - gorgeous weather (not having much hair I was fried that morning - still glowing now lol) - sooo many models and ages of Jaguar all in the one place - it was a really nice time with great company.
If I can interest anyone I am very happy to organise another smaller meet for December, and another for May next year - as for next year Tont believes we may be able to get some financial assistance from Harwoods Marketing - and I am still woring on Jaguars sponsorship manager :-)
Many, many thanks to those of you that gave up your time (and fuel) to attend, and for those who tried to attend but couldn't - without you guys it could not have happened...
All the best
Steve

Hello Steve.

Well done once again for organising such a great and well turned out event (what a great bunch of people)

Just to remind you of the above date this weekend and this is organised by the JEC club (10am to 4pm) small charge at the gate.

If you (and the forum members) want to come
along you all would be more than welcome and a mention to all in the
forums would ensure a good turnout.

We will be taking both the F Type Coupe and a F
Type Convertible and I will also have my colleague Mark from service as
well to answer any technical queries.

Best regards.

Tony Tedeschi

Sales Executive

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi everyone - many thanks again to all that came along on the day, I
really appreciate the support that you gave to what turned out to be a
great day - I'm still keeping a bit of a low profile at home after all
that - but will be back online fully inside the next few weeks -
meanwhile though I was curious as to how many might be interested in
breaking up the doldums and greyness of December with a maybe smaller
Brighton meet mid December?

OK - I've given in and done it! :-) I can't let this Bi-Annual event not
be Bi-Annual.. so much like the football I have kicked off with this
thread: http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-68/uk-south-east-meet-december-2014-brighton-119699/
and have started officially taking 'bookings'... no idea of what I can
wrangle for the day but I'll sort something for us.. there is not a
fixed date yet as I'll do my usual and see who can make what date in
December, and if Madiera Drive isn't closed on the date the majority can
make it, that will be the date..

Don't forget putting your name forward costs nothing, you are not
commited until close to the date, but you are guaranteed a great day
out.. so if I can interest you please put your name forward and lets see
if we can generate enough atendees to enable some Jaguar support on the
day :-)
