Hi. Took delivery of my new 2004 XK8 convertible yesterday ... I still run a 2005 X-Type 2.2 Diesel Estate purchased after I dropped a piston on my 2002 X-Type 2.0 Saloon in 2005 after completing 170,000 miles from new. The X-Type 2.0 was only worth £7,500 by then and a new engine was 7 grand, so it seemed sensible to replace the car with something a bit more substantial for the mileage I was doing at the time. So I traded what was left on the Diesel.

Now I wanted something to play with so use the Diesel for the heavy lifting and the XK8 for high days and holidays along with my 1965 Triumph TR4A. Both lovely cars, hope to be having fun this summer in the XK.

Cheers.

Steve

hi steve welcome to the club mate. my old business partner ran jags for many years mostly xj s . he loved them. he had been talking of trading in his curent one for another over a 20year period he must had 4-5 all xj  some belters. out the blue he turns up on the site with a new xk8r coupe blue ivory int. a cracker and head turner was in it on coutless occasions put into sport you wer flung into the back of the seat this thing could shift wow. we wer doing good at that time and its nice to treat yourself to lifes little pleasures. he kept it for two years the traded it in for another xj. just before the new one came out. i at that time like the mercs and had a few . clk 200, e270, ml320, the last c-lass220 new shape. then new bm x5 nice car but the soft ware is not good in and out dealership  all the time. sold the business was looking to buy sports car before get to old was going to buy 911. then happend to be passing the local Jaguar dealers one weekend me and the wife wer out pulled in she said i know wer this is going haha it was ther an xk slate grey ivory leather black alloys that was it love. cheers charlie

thanks trevor, the xj super sport is a cracker its got more room than the xk has and is more practical and just as fast or even faster. thats the only thing about the xk in a lot of ways i was being selfish. as we only have the one car now (wifes not well)  she had a c180 and it was just sitting ther not getting used so i sold it wishing i haddnt now as the xk is not practical for taking dogs to vets ect but i love it. prob go for xf in a few years. charlie

Thanks guys ... been out and about enjoying the XK. It doesn't give me the scary edge-of-the-seat falling-off-a-cliff tendency of my old 1965 Triumph TR4A while flinging it about on the country lanes (no power steering or any fancy stuff to help stability) ... but it does have a different "feel" and the grunt of the 4.2 engine and stick-to-the-corner ability gives a feeling of invulnerability. Comes into its own on the straight and narrow as well. Thoroughly enjoyable -- great purchase.
