Keyless entry issues

Welcome to the Club, Larry.

I may be something of a Luddite, but I do like the key to open the car.

The modern car does like a fully charged battery to make sure its electrical bits will always work,

Regards.

Peter.

Hi there my fob stopped working some time back. I ordered two new ones which cost me £500 with a jag dealer and when I took it in to re programme the new fobs they wouldn’t work. The engineer told me he thinks the receiver module is the issue and that part inc labour will set me back a further £350. At the moment I’m using the old fob via the satellite detector under the fog lights whilst I try to get clued up on the issue. Does anyone know if I can I Order this part myself to keep costs down or do I just go with the dealer? Thanks

Hi Guys,

I have a problem with my 2012 Jaguar XF. It doesn't unlock sometimes and this happens mostly in the mornings. You can open the drivers door but the alarm goes off. I thought it was the  remote battery, I changed it and the issue still continued. I also changed the car battery because this issue only happens in the mornings and it still didn't fix my problem. Sometimes when I drive the car the power goes off and it shuts down everything that works with electricity(radio, I can't open windows...) while it's still on. And it also shows funny errors, like there's no fuel in the car, brakes, blind spot checker not working.

This issue doesn't happen all the time, sometimes the car can go for days without this issue. What might be the problem?

Please help guys.

Hi, did you get this fixed. I have the exact same problem. Had new BCM (in footwell) and new battery in keys and car. Jaguar reset and re programmed software but Fault still there. Any help gratefully received.

Hi, im new to this forum, I have an XF 250 and the diagnostics gives me 3 codes:

1) U2101 Control module configuration not compatible

2) U0140 Lost communication with body control module

3) Interior luggage compartment antenna

I have stripped the boot trim out and found the control module, I have bought another one on eBay which I await.

i'm assuming that the main control body is goosed and fitting a other one will solve the other issues.

I do have a query tho.

The car wont start and just keeps cranking over without starting up, im assuming its to do with this module, security etc. and the keyless system.

Do I just install the module or do the keys and the module need some programming.

thanks Maz

BOTH my Smart keys do not work with my XF RSport 2018. One of them had been playing up recently. Most of the time it opened/closed the car but occasionally it didn't. I have put a new battery in but it still doesn't work. I tried the spare key. That didn't work either. Changed the battery in that and still no joy. So it can't be the Smart key batteries. I can open the car with the App and start the car - but only by placing the Smart key on the steering column. It then says "Smart key no longer in vehicle" which is clearly untrue. It is just not recognising it. Can anyone help please?

Hi Frank and welcome

My guess would be that the low voltage caused by your alternator failure has corrupted the software in one or more modules. That is not as catastrophic as it sounds 🙂. Basically there are multiple computers or modules which all talk to each other to get the car to work. Just like a PC or phone sometimes the "system" need resetting. On a computer just restartting is often enough. In these cars you need a little more help, either with the Jaguar main dealer diagnostic tools or an independant with the right kit (Autologic systems seem to be the best). Hopefully it is just a case of hooking up the diagnostics which will then look for errors and repair these by overwritting the corrupt software in effected modules with a new copy. (My understanding is that the entire software code for your car is stored in 3 copies within the car). There is also a chance of course that the alternator failure may have physically damaged a module(s) in which case they need replacing and the car needs telling about this to get everything to work. As an example my battery went flat in the first lockdown. When the RAC got it going everything was fine but both rear doors were permenantly locked and the rear windows did not work. All sorted by the diagnostic kit at the supplying dealer (not Jag but under warranty) with no need for new modules.

Hope that helps.

John

Hi anyone help me please. Our XF keys won’t work. Had the AA out and got me home using the fob being on placed on the square under the steering wheel. can use this but the error message is reposition key fob or cannot locate key fob.
Both keys won’t work can’t really understand it.
Has the key lost its connection to the car??  Or are the electrics broken? Any help wd be appreciated!
