  1. A small word of warning on the use of the one touch fob button for roof raise and lower. Whilst it is a nice trick, the recommendation is NEVER raise or lower the roof of a convertible without the engine running. i.e. don't rely on the battery to do the work. Batteries in the X-150 have a hard life and I have always recommended that the battery be replaced at 5 years old. Many, many spurious faults arise from a poor battery and in today's world, the ability to start the car is not the best indication of its health.

  2. Just as most others are saying that independent Jaguar specialists are great. Mine does a far better job than I have got before from main dealers and I usually pay around £300 for a major service. No frills just great work.

  3. You don't clarify as to whether the vibration or "limp" is only there when braking from speed or whether there is a vibration at the rear when travelling at a constant speed. If the vibration is there all of the time, especially when travelling at constant speed, the most likely culprit is tyres, differential or driveshafts - potentially a driveshaft has suffered a minor distortion and that would result in both vibration and / or the limp. If you have access to a dial gauge indicator, you could check if the driveshafts are running true or suffering a minor out of round. N6 JMX

  4. Sounds like you’re going to have to overhaul the brake calipers On the other hand… It’s a known thing that pad deposits can build up on the discs and cause this juddering A good few heavy braking sessions from speed can remove these deposits and cure the problem till it comes back

  14. Morning Leigh, I recently updated the maps in my XK which still had the original maps since the car was new (2006) If your XF has the same system as my XK which has the DVD player in the boot then it's a simple job to update the maps with a new disk, I bought mine from Sat Navi Shops, here is a link https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/ Just buy the latest disc from them for your car model and job done, mine works perfectly now!

  15. Hi John and Ian, I've just joined having recently bought an X-Type 2l TD. However, I'm not new to Jags: my father had several and I have previously owned an XJS plus a Daimler Sovereign when I was much younger, lol.

  17. Hi Peter Glad you got it sorted, and thanks for the update. Always nice to know how people have actually solved the problems rather than just having a list of problems and suggestions for solving them which may or may not have worked. 🙂 John

  18. Update! The problem turned out to be a worn compressor and a slightly flat battery. The latter was easily resolved but the compressor turned into a saga. I had a new piston ring in my spares stash which I seem to remember buying because it came with free desiccant for the drier. I fitted the new ring and the message was still there. On the bench the compressor struggled to reach 5 bar never mind 14. A new, proper ring saved the day , restored compression and broke the daily routine of removing the compressor. We never have time to do a job properly yet find time to do it twice.....or three times. The moral of the story is 'Only buy the original Bagpiping Andy kit or risk becoming very efficient at removal and replacement of the compressor.
