  1. Hi all, Wanted to introuduce myself as a first time Jaguar owner. Mostly BMWs but this time round a Jaguar XF seemed the obvious choice. I've attached a picture. Very happy so far (25t r sport with a few extras) but do have a slight niggle I hope others on this forum can help me with. This is my post: Thanks and I look forward to my time on this forum

  4. The XF is going and for my Birthday and start of retirement I had decided to go for something less flamboyant and lower performance as a nice little runaround.... NOT 😉 And here she is:- Deposit paid and due for arrival mid December. She has just about every bell and whistle on board as well 😉 For those who have less than perfect sight, the red text to the left of the "R" badge on the boot lid is:- 5...7...5 🙂

  5. I know that many things here won't apply in SoCal...but the smell of Jaguar is always sweet, even in the midst of troubles. It's not a matter of if you love it. It is a matter of what would you do without it! For me a 1999 XJR about 10 years ago and a one owner 2003 XJR (X308) now. So as owner number two I have to try harder. I have seen the assistance here and hope perhaps I may one day have something to offer also.

  6. Several members of this forum are aware of my present situation and have been asked to keep it to themselves, however, I feel that I should perhaps update anybody who is concerned. We are currently having to deal with the very real possibility that my Wife's breast cancer has returned. In addition, I have just been allowed home following somewhat major surgery. Apologies if these things got in the way of the standard of service some VERY new members appear to expect from me. OTH kindly took the trouble to hint that sometimes people are not available, thanks BTW Frank, but clearly that cut no ice with certain new members whose enthusiasm for the forum as a whole, is clearly evidenced by your singular lack of any input other than to harrangue me. As far as PMs go, one unanswered should have been sufficient. I did not need the follow up. Those who use this forum on a regular basis will be aware that I tend to try assisting where possible as fully as possible and as fast as possible, even as far as hosting people and their cars at my house free of charge and usually with lunch thrown in. I will, of course, endeavour to continue to do so as time and circumstance permit. As to the answer to certain questions of a technical nature? Well, I am still perfectly willing to assist those I can but for some reason I appear to become flustered when pressured / harangued, becoming unable to recall the required detail, unfortunately. However, I am by no means the only forum member with experience of the electronic functions of the S-Type and I fel sure they will be able to assist, approached in a reasonable manner. Please be aware that, although I am, for the moment at least, a moderator on this forum, my comments above are my own personal views and do not reflect the views of the forum admin. Therefore those who might feel offended by my candour should, if required, raise it with the admin. Finally, to all of those who have wished us well and offered support I would like to thank you sincerely on behalf of us both 🙂 Nil carborundum illigitimum.

  7. If I was a religious individual I'd be on my knees saying thank you. We've now had confirmation that Marion's breast cancer has not in fact returned. We both send thanks to those who wished us well recently 🙂

  11. Hello from North Somerset. I have just bought (and fell in love with) a 2009 2.2 X Type. I’m looking forward to browsing the forums and hopefully being able to sort out the few very minor niggles with what I’m sure is going to be a great car. I would also be very interested in any meets that may be in my area.

  14. Hi all! I bought my first ever Jag today after dreaming of owning one since I was a kid. I bought a very tidy 2006 2.2l diesel X Type that has done 72k miles with full service history! Very excited to be apart of this community!

  15. Well.....it's fixed!! After a lengthy fuse pulling exercise and replacing back.....the XF has sorted itself. Still baffled which fuse it was because it showed no obvious spiking. However, ever since for the last 2-3 weeks it is working perfectly. Can only suspect dodgy loose fuse or connection. Still not a complete answer, but thought I'd let you guys know that if you have the same trouble, this worked a treat for me.

  20. Today I was shown around a friend's new car, of which he was justly proud, a VW Polo 6. So enthusiastic was he that he insisted I go for a ride with him to see how it performed. Some way down the A449, we came upon a Jaguar in the inside lane and he said with relish "Let's burn this thing off the road... " I said "It's a Jaguar" his reply "Those jags are overrated" I didn't bother to enquire as to the performance of his VW. In the event, nothing came of it as we hurtled past the Jaguar without any sign of it wishing to take part in a race. I noticed the jaguar had a label on the boot. It was XJR575. I can't help thinking that my young friend was just a tad optimistic ')

  22. Hello, fellow Jaguar enthusiasts, I'm John Kattenhorn, and I'm excited to finally be joining this community. I've been promising myself to get more involved since January! My recent journey with Jaguar began in 2021. My wife and I have always had a passion for unique vehicles, which led us to acquire two Jaguars - an I-Pace for our company and an F-Type R as a retirement gift. The F-Type was particularly special as a substitute for our motorcycle adventures, which my wife was enjoying less. I mostly did the longer rides to spend time with her. 🙂 The F-Type R has been our faithful companion, especially during the summer months. It has significantly reshaped our travel preferences. Since COVID-19, we've found joy in exploring Europe's scenic routes in the F-Type, favoring it over flying. We are pretty excited to be awaiting the arrival of our new F-Pace SVR next Tuesday. It's set to replace our I-Pace as our daily driver. We've had only one issue with the I-Pace's charging flap, but aside from that, it's been flawless. I'll be sad to see it go. Surprisingly, I find myself feeling nostalgic about the Jaguars we are losing as the brand progresses through its transformation. I'm here to contribute to the community, share experiences, and learn. Looking forward to an engaging and enriching experience here. Best regards, John

  23. New pump installed and all is well. The tank is one awkward so and so to get into place and the 2 pipes underneath are just something else but all the nasty messages have gone away and a pint beckons. Happy days.....till the next time
    2 points
  24. Hi Paul, No need to replace the blades. Pull off the pipes and try again. If you still have no water then your most likely problem will be gunge at the bottom of the washer bottle blocking the filter. You will probably end up removing the bottle to facilitate proper cleaning and it would also be prudent to blow through the pipes with compressed air, just in case.

  25. Hi, just a little into to myself, I'm James and live on the Norfolk/Cambs border. I'm a 54 y/o truck driver and I've just obtained my first XF. I've had two previous Jaguars before, the first was a 2002 3.0 X Type, the latter being a 2008 2.0D X Type. I've now just bought and collected a 2012 XF 2.2 Premium Luxury. So far I'm loving it. Sadly I missed the fact it doesn't have a reversing camera and I've noticed the DAB isn't picking up a signal. Still, it's a lovely car and colour (Claret Pearl) and I will endeavour to rectify these problems and tap you all for advise and info. Many thanks. 20240113_145220.heic

  30. Welcome aboasrd Derek! With your side repeater, remove the lamp as you did to replace the bulb, disconnect the plug and spray some switch/contact cleaner into the end of the plug and on the contacts in the lamp holder. Refit, test. You may have to repeat this several times before the combination of dis/re-connect and the switch cleaner cleans the oxidisation off the contacts. If several attempts don't fix it, do similar with the bulb and holder but also worth checking the bulb actually works.

  33. Hi Ian Stop/Start is quite a marmite function. Most people love it or hate it. Potential negatives are usually related to engine and/or starter wear and tear. Most engine and starter pinion wear is at start up, however stop/start actually pre-engages the starter pinion so not really an issue. The middle position is people not liking not being in control or insecurity that engine will start again 🙂 Positives are that it does reduce emissions (the actual rationale for its introduction). If it engages you know your battery/batteries are OK as it will not engage if it is not sure it can restart the car. Personally I let it engage at least once each journey before disabling as this confirms batteries are OK. If going anywhere when car is to be left for a few days I would always disable as the XF does conduct occasional self tests of the battery which involves discharging to 75% capacity. My concern is always that id gets to that point just before I park up so instead of starting with 100% I would be starting with 75% 😞 As you may know the XF along with many modern cars does seem to suffer from parasitic drain so I only leave mine for a week at most before attaching my ctek. 34. Jaguar is commemorating the end of its internal combustion sports car lineage in 2024 with an exclusive limited-edition F-TYPE inspired by two iconic 1960s racing E-types Just 150 examples of the F-TYPE ZP Edition will be the last internal combustion-engined sports cars designed by Jaguar. These 575PS supercharged petrol V8 F-TYPEs feature specially curated interior and exterior details by the personalisation experts at SV Bespoke. "As Jaguar embarks on the boldest transformation in its history, to become a modern luxury all-electric brand from 2025, this is an unrepeatable celebration of Jaguar’s internal combustion sports car provenance. F-TYPE has captivated sports car drivers for more than a decade, just as the E-type did five decades before it. The ZP Edition is the ultimate celebration of that lineage, joining an illustrious roster of heritage-inspired collector’s editions including the 2015 Project 7 and 2020 Heritage 60 Edition." RAWDON GLOVER - MANAGING DIRECTOR, JAGUAR Two F-TYPE ZP Edition colourways are available, recalling the first race-winning ‘Project ZP’ E-types campaigned shortly after the model’s launch in 1961: Oulton Blue Gloss paint with Mars Red and Ebony duotone leather interior, or Crystal Grey Gloss paint with Navy Blue and Ebony duotone leather interior. Both feature Porcelain White Gloss hand-painted racing-style roundels on the doors and Porcelain White Gloss grille surrounds. Neither exterior paint colour has been offered on F-TYPE before. These colours match the two specially formulated paints created for seven pairs of E-type Project ZP Collection cars announced by Jaguar Classic earlier this year: https://media.jaguar.com/news/2023/06/jaguar-classic-unveils-tribute-first-e-type-race-wins-e-type-zp-collection. Unique interiors with horizontal seat fluting, plus Gloss Black exterior accents and Gloss Black brake calipers, complement exclusive F-TYPE ZP Edition branding details on the fenders, Gloss Black Diamond Turned 20-inch forged alloy wheels, tread plates and dashboard. Each car features a ‘One of 150’ SV Bespoke commissioning plaque. Ever since earning accolades including 2013 World Car Design of the Year, F-TYPE has continued to set the benchmark for truly involving, engaging, driver-focused sports cars, with a distinctive V8 soundtrack. The exhaust note is so iconic it is archived in institutions including the British Library. The F-TYPE ZP Edition is available in both Coupé and Convertible body styles. With 575PS, 700Nm of torque and an all-wheel drive system with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) technology, performance is exceptional on all surfaces and in all weathers: 0-60mph takes as little as 3.5 seconds, while top speed is an electronically-limited 186mph. 37. Hi All, Delighted to be able to join you as today I’ve signed on the dotted line and purchased an XF. The Jaguar is the only car I’ve ever actually desired, and as I’m just over 60 (I can’t believe I’m that age) it’s now or never. Test drove it on Saturday it’s a dream, one owner, full Jaguar service history and 37k miles. Awaiting deliver later this week, really excited. Look forward to help and advice from all of you in the “Prowl” which is one of the collective nouns for a group of Jaguars 🐆 the other two being “Leap” or “Parade” Catch up soon, Norfolk Ian 🐾

  38. I seem to have fixed it ! Replaced the memory switch on the door and immediately had the correct operation of the memory functions, but still no drivers seat forward and back movement with the engine running. At this point, I thought that I was still going to need to use SDD to diagnose and possibly have to replace the seat module. Then I thought, what if it has a stored fault code generated by the faulty memory switch ? Connected my code reader and, sure enough, B1B88 was showing. Cleared the code and all working fine since then.

  39. For sale - Trigger`s antique broom? 1st reg Feb 2009 this car shows mileage of 198,000 but ...... A replacement Short Engine has only done 75,000. Coolant Rail, Aux Drive Belt, Water Pump, Radiator Fan A/C Condensor and Supercharger Nose Cone have done 35,000. Both Fuel Pumps have done 29,000. The Alternator has done 28,000. All engine Timing Chains and Fuel Pump Camshaft have done have done 25,000 and both Fuel Injector Rails have only done 8,000. The XKR 5ltr is a phenomenal car and this is a great opportunity to get one you can trust. I`ll be fully open about it`s history and also about what it might need next. I`m open to offers around £9,000 to £10,000

  42. Probably but 2016 is only a year behind 2015 in terms of ageing and fading. Why not just revive your existing headlamps using T-Cut or one of the headlamp renovation kits available online? Would be cheper and much less grief in the long run and you won't need to come back next year and ask if 2017 headlamps will fit a 2015 car and so on. 😉 😄

  43. Hi all, just bought my first Jaguar 2 weeks ago, 07 plate S Type, it's been looked after very well, mostly Jaguar dealer stamps in the service book, A very low 76,000 miles, It's just a dream to drive. Already had lots of comments, nice car, lovely car, even had a merc driver tell me how nice a car it was. Hope to meet some of you at future meets. Dave in Yorkshire.

  44. Dear Jaguar lovers, I am a new member and seeking your advice. I am about to purchase my very first Jaguar XF. Unfortunately I don’t have anyone who can advise me on what things should I check before purchase, so hoping for your knowledgeable opinion. I found what seems like a perfect car for me, 2017 portfolio XF with 2.0 diesel engine, with 47k miles on the clock. What potential issues can come up at this mileage and age? What should I check/ask the dealer for before purchase? from my online research I gathered that the display sometimes may be lagging so I will definitely check that, apart from that I found that timing belt/chain should be replaced at some point around that mileage as well as oil in the gearbox (it’s automatic) how much do these usually cost. also, how much on average do you spend on servicing your XFs? I’m very keen to buy this car, but just want to ensure I do all checks possible for smooth driving as well trying to get better understanding how much will I need to have a side for regular maintenance. I look forward for your advice and thank you in advance

  45. Hi Sofia, I bought a 2017 XF-S last year, my second XF (first was a 2011). Only problem so far is glow-plugs not working (cold weather only!), not sure if it's the plugs or the controller, but I need to get it seen to before next winter! BTW, I'm an Essex boi too, from Tilbury, now living in Sussex, where you at? Good luck with your XF - they're great! J

  46. Hi all ,changed N/S & O/S rear door glass quarter seals due them being perished and split easy job 10 mins per side the parts are available at Rimmer Bros N/S -C2Z10105 £38:48 O/S -C2Z10104 £36:69 not cheap I know and different price depending on what side ,but I am fussy and every time I cleaned the car it bothered me to change you just have to remove seal no need to disassemble any glass or door, just remove ,clean area ,I used a little washing up liquid as a lubricant to fit new seal to prevent any tearing of rubber whilst fitting and you just push it back into ridge of the door as the other came from job done ✅ thanks Dan

  47. That's really good. The black fluid (it isn't oil) mixed with petrol and burnt, lowers the octane rating with its associated problems. I used a vapour condenser can and set it up on the right side so's to enable easy disposal of the waste fluid.

  48. Hi thank you for replying, I couldn’t agree more all these German cars that seem to dominate the roads just don’t have the same class or ambiance of a Jaguar. As far as the breaks go I’ll give a few hard stops from 30 mph a try and see if it helps free anything up but I have got new disks and pads all round, it’s quite possible that it’s still got the same disks fitted nearly 21 years ago so I think it deserves a new set. The rear subframe is a real concern I think it’ll be a case of having it refurbished in the next few years but as it’s a weekend car and doesn’t get used in winter months I’m hoping it will hold out a little bit longer yet.

  49. Welcome aboard David. I agree with Trevor, many conversions were carried out to cars that didn't have an estate in their range back in the 60s and 70s - Ford Zephyr Mk3, Triumph Stag estates, Rover P6 "Estoura" to name just three although to be fair, the Stag estate was based on a 2000/2500 estate with a Stag engine and brakes fitted. There was also a pair of SD1 Rover estates, one produced in house by grafting on a Volvo 245 back end and the other (if memory serves) by FLM Panelcraft and Ladbroke Avon produced a Series III XJ6 estate : https://www.aronline.co.uk/cars/jaguar/xj6-xj12/avon-jaguar-estate/ Avon also produced the Avon Acclaim, essentially a Triumph Acclaim with Jaguar-like luxury and also a turbo version. Many conversions exist as aftermarket, sadly few manufacturers actually build their own estates from the drawing board onwards.
