  1. Have since found a problem that has been present on both my XKR's, which when fixed has helped with some of the electrical problems. There is an earthing point behind the front offside wheel and the securing nut breaks off when trying to remove it, showing that the earthing is useless. If the cables are long enough to reach anothr bolt hole, maybe on an extra bracket, then it is a fairly simple fix, otherwist the cables need to be extended with another piece of earth cable to get to a better position. Hope this helps someone experiencing the same problems.
  2. Hi Dexter, did you ever get any further with this upgrade ?? I replaced lamps with higher wattage Xenon lamps, but was just as disappointed with the result !!
  3. Hi Leo, thanks for the reply and I did think about that, but on my old XKR that go written off, the engine was sloppy in starting when things started to go wrong, but this one is fine. I am now thinking that there might be a loose terminal as there was some work done on the boot before I bought it and maybe they didn't tighten them up properly !!! I'll give it a go later and get back to you. In answer to your questions, uaually 200 miles once a week and then every couple of days anoth 20 or 30. Really depends on circumstances as it is the pet and not the workhorse !! Cheers
  4. Hi Guys, got an XKR Portfolio convertible and its great to drive, but annoying problems. Sometimes the audio stops and starts, sometimes the phone will not connect, sometimes the sat nav doesn't know where the hell we are !!! Cruise control 'wasnt available' the other day, yet it came back after a restart. Next time I get in the car, everything is fine and its a dream !!! Does anyone know what is going on ??? Cheers for any response
  5. My sat nav is playing up and is showing a totally wrong start position and then randomly moving across the screen as I travel. I have tried resetting to defaults and starting again, but it seems to be all over the place. Any ideas anyone ??
  6. Hi All, I am looking to replace the rubber connection pipe between the airflow T piece and the throttle body on my 2007 XKR. Jaguar are telling me that it only comes with the T piece and that costs £700 !!! I could understand if it was bonded to the metal, but it is a separately manufactured piece of rubber - they must be having a laugh. Has anyone come across this before and if so, is there a more economic solution please ???
  7. Hi Peter, Just to let you know, the fault has been diagnosed as the alarm backup battery module shorting out. It can happen if there is water ingress into the module which creates arcing. Guy Salmon in Maidstone diagnosed it and said that they haven't seen it in the XKR, but have experienced it before. One for the knowledge base ?? Regards
  8. Alarm sensor is another thought as with remote locking etc. as it is obviously on all the time, but I will let you know as soon as it is diagnosed. Thanks Peter.
  9. Thanks Peter and thanks for the welcome. The clicking hasn't stopped for 2 days now and the wife is complaining as it sounds in the bedroom - I think the clicking is too fast and erratic for any sort of rhythm !! Anyway, the battery was new last year and everything else seems OK but strange that it just keeps going as one would have thought that it would give up at some stage. It could be a parking sensor fault I guess as that pops up on the dash now and again as I park the front close to the hedge, but who knows. I have a friend who is going to put his analyser on it to see what error codes it throws up, but he is away for a few days so that's why I threw it out into the forum. Should I let you know the outcome as I am sure someone else will have a similar problem at some stage ?? Regards Dave
  10. Hi All, New member here with a slight problem. I have a 2007 XKR (love it !!) but I have a strange clicking/ticking noise coming from the engine compartment around the offside air bar position. Its like a Geiger counter and happens even when the engine is off. It has been ticking away all night, yet starts and performs as normal. I wasn't too worried about it, but it is becoming really annoying now and prior to strolling down to Guy Salmon, I was wondering if anyone knew what I might be letting myself in for ?? Any ideas anyone ??
