  1. I have recently updated my iPod Touch from a 3rd Generation model to a 5th Generation model to use in my 2013MY XF, apart from the improvement in capacity, speed and style etc. the only other difference is that the newer one uses a Lightening Connector cable rather than the older 30 pin type that Apple originally designed. Unfortunately, even though the content on the newer iPod is working fine, when I plug it into the USB port in the arm rest (where I have always plugged in my 3rd Gen model which works perfectly) it shows an error on the Infotainment screen and reports “No playable media”. Can anyone suggest what might be the problem please?
  2. Yes Old Pete, I had the same issue with my 2006 S Type, the latest maps are onlY up to 2012, I have the ISO for this which I burned to a DVD, worked fine and was still in the car when I traded it in for the XF.
  3. It's a little late to be reporting back on this saga, but just to bring you all up to date, the EU Webstore that sell these updates eventually got back yo me offering a refund on receipt of the returned upgrade package. I accepted their offer although it cost me £13 to send it back tracked and registered. I was refunded the original purchase price plus P&P but not what it cost me to send it back. I suppose it was a fairly satisfactory result, but I would rather have had a full installation of the 2017 mapping, which is what I thought I was buying. I think this should be a warning to any other members thinking of upgrading, what you see on their web site is not what you get and at £174 it is a costly mistake. I have just checked the web site to see if there is any information about the age of the maps but they are still being described as 2017.
  4. Following my complaint regarding the date and age of the available map upgrade on the Jaguar web site, I have had a further response from Jaguar EMEA Web Store customer services saying that my “enquiry” had been passed to “the appropriate” department, that was 12 days ago and I haven’t had a response yet. I will report back if and when I get a reply, if I don’t get a reply, I will need to escalate the issue and take further advice. Mike
  5. I made the decision to update my sat nav and forked out £174 for the “2017” upgrade. The upgrade went fairly well, took 2 hours 55 minutes spread over a few journeys, however, the mapping is not 2017, it is actually the last quarter of 2015 according to Jaguar Navigation. When I checked the version through the diagnostics screen, it is identified as “xx-16-xx, indicating that the mapping is 2016, principally two years out of date. I complained to Jaguar Navigation that I had been mislead by the listing description but they seem to have ignored my message. I am more than a little !Removed! off, I certainly wouldn’t have bought it, in my opinion, £174 for old maps is a complete rip off and I wonder if there is any legal recourse I could take for misrepresentation?
  6. Hi Keefster14, I am having difficulty responding to your post about updating an XF Sat Nave using a USB stick, the site is denying me access and my original post about my experience has disappeared!

in answer to your suggestion about sharing a USB, it is not possible, Jaguar have put a DRM (Digital Rights Management) system in place where it creates a specific Activation Code based on the VIN number of the individual car, this code can only be generated if a genuine order for the update is present on your Jaguar Navigation log in page.

I bit the bullet and bought the update (£174 inc. P&P) and ran it yesterday, it took 2 hours 55 minutes to complete plus a further 15 minutes to initialise. The let down is that when I checked the map version in the diagnostics screen, it reports that the mapping version is xx 16 xx, indicating that what they are advertising as 2017 mapping is actually 2016, something I am very unhappy about. I have written to them asking for an explaination, I will post their response, if and when I get a reply.

  7. I have just updated my 2012MY XF using the extortionate USB stick from Jaguar Navigation, the update took 2 hours 55 minutes and then a further 15 minutes before the screen actually displayed the maps. Apart from being ridiculously expensive, I am rather miffed to find that when I check the map version in the diagnostic screen, the middle two digits are “16”, suggesting that the mapping is already two years out of date. The update is listed as 2017 and costs £174 inc. P&P, (below text copied from Jaguar Navigation Web Site) GEN2.1Jaguar Gen2.1 HDD Europe 2017 Part number T1000-25005 this to me is very misleading and possibly violates the Trade Descriptions Act. I have written to Jaguar Navigation asking them to explain the anomaly, I will post their answer when (or if) they respond. Bootesey
  8. I have a 2006 "S" Type and on mine the mirror adjustment rocker switch needs to be in the centre position before the folding mirrors will operate. Mine also stick when it is cold or very dry, probably need to find a way to get at the pivot pin to lubricate it
